Lots of pictures on Twitter from Tom’s first “meet and greet” event in years yesterday.

Update on what she was doing at the Republican convention, clearly there on the fringes, there was a scathing piece in yesterday's Guardian making it clear that Truss only got as far as being in a long line of people allowed to shake the hand of a passing J D Vance, and that unfortunately for Truss the one emerging photo was blurry so likely won't scream "posed essential picure of high powered political figure." Interestingly, The Guardian also devoted a page to a serious discussion of whether former PMs should face strong limitations on what they're able to do, not as biased as you might think, Blair was singled out as a serial offender, selling his skills to the highest paying dictatorial autocrat and - if anything - a worse example of bad behaviour than more recent cases because, basically, he's more able and skilled than chancers like Bojo and flakes like Truss.

Marianne Bernadotte has lived in a Stockholm care home the last 4 years. She, Marianne Princess Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn (bedbound for the last two years since miraculously surviving covid), Princess Felicitas of Salm-Horstmar, Princess Mikasa (heart failure, two strokes this year, currently hospitalised etc), Induratana Paribatra (is she even alive?) and Ashi Tashi Dorji are all over 100 years old. Marie Christine of Württemberg will be 100 in a few months and is very frail. Sheikh Salem has been seemingly hospitalised for the last three years (and has been in failing health for two decades), Queen Ratna has been in poor health for years and Jamshid of Zanzibar was dying in 2020. It's a small miracle that the list has been without deaths for more than nine months.

Bored of hearing about this lad now. He’s dead. Can we move on and not play into the hands of media sensationalism and conspiracy theorists by giving it air?

Really sad news. That choon was a real floor filler back in the day. 40 years, just days over, ago. Hard to believe. RIP.

Something new on former Afghan prime minister Mohammed Hasan Sharq. According to him, on paper his birthdate is the 17th of July 1924 (not 1925?) but he could be "a year or two older or younger". He is also releasing a new book. There also seems to be a new clip here at 20:02. I think he won't die off-radar.

I would understand completely if you didn't want to face a second of such an awful TV program but Laura Kuenssberg has just been buried somewhere just below the Earth's mantle by Rachel Reeves.

First time I've even seen the word, so you're not old until you don't even know what something like this is (fortunately I'm guessing if it's shite, and I'm not looking it up to affirm that).

Was just in a department store in Lincoln where they started playing 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World' by Tears for Fears over the sound system and a gang of about seven 12 year olds randomly started yelling out the lyrics at the top of their lungs. I've only just googled it and found out it features in those Skibidi Toilet skits on YouTube which are like crack for kids in that age group now.

We all know Jimmy Carter ain't going until September 28th. He plans to annoy us by dying as close to his 100th birthday as possible. Add to that, the former president may die of something otherwise treatable, such as appendicitis or even a hangover.

Not sure the best place to post this...debated using the 'Hospitalized' thread as a joke. My health isn't well at the moment. Turns out I have quite a bit of damage to my heart. Have some genetic history of that, but I'm about 20 years too early. My breathing started taking a turn for the worse a couple days ago and it's...not great. Whether I make it through this current sickness or not, my doc gave me a timeline that will make the sunrises I see more meaningful. Just wanted to post it somewhere so if I disappear off the website you might have an idea what's happened. I don't have much family anymore and my career isolates me. I've found comfort here. I may be delusional or demented, but this site has made me quite happy. Anywho, if I could have one wish it'd be that someone reading this has a happy day. Go for a walk or call a family member. Eat a nice crumpet or whatever you Brits do. I'm not twisted enough to think I'll be remembered like most posted on here, but hopefully I can be granted the knowledge of someone else having a nice time, no matter how short or impacting, due to me. This isn't goodbye...I don't think. Either way, cheers to a bunch of random people!

RIP to a genuine hero. Glad he left this world in peace.

Italian media reporting that he has died (either today or yesterday, which was his 103rd birthday). Anyway, RIP blah blah blah but DDP points on their way… PS… should’ve been on the list!
