13 pointsHere's my personal thoughts on what the list should be like. Misses will be inevitable but I think a list like this would atleast reach 14 or something hits: Keep (25) 1. Jimmy Carter (hospice) 2. Pete Murray (frail years ago) 3. Cleo Laine (very frail) 4. Sonny Rollins (very old, terminally ill with pulmonary fibrosis for longer than the expectancy for someone much younger) 5. Imelda Marcos (diabetes, serious heart problems, ministrokes, pneumonia hospitalisation this year) 6. Ted Turner ("late stages" of lewy body dementia for a while now) 7. Roberta Flack (ALS, other ailments) 8. Esther Rantzen (terminal lung cancer) 9. Norman Tebbit (said to be very ailing, heart problems etc.) 10. Tom Brokaw (multiple myeloma for more than a decade, recently in 24/7 care) 11. Gene Hackman (looked death warmed up this year, massive heart problems) 12. Joanne Woodward (perennial dementia sufferer) 13. Stanley Baxter (no public appearances in years, care home, said he has memory loss back around 2020) 14. Nigel Starmer-Smith (bruce willis type dementia, bedbound for years, overdue) 15. Noam Chomsky (paralyzed from a massive stroke) 16. Dennis Skinner (very ill for very long - heart operations, cancer, alleged mild dementia) 17. James Whale (longtime cancer sufferer allegedly now living on experimental meds, give him one last chance) 18. Jean-Marie Le Pen (heart failure, pulmonary oedema, stroke) 19. Willie Nelson (emphysema, other chronic health conditions) 20. Denis Law (mixed dementia for years) 21. Sly Stone (advanced COPD and no news in ages) 22. Linda Nolan (boring perennial cancer sufferer allegedly now living on experimental meds #2. Give her one last chance) 23. Buzz Aldrin (former heavy drinker, a couple of health scares in the past, on oxygen in his latest appearance) 24. Sandy Gall (looked unrecognizable here over three years ago and as far as I know has not made appearances since) 25. Dick Van Dyke (looks healthy but reading between the lines sounds like he's suffering from some severe illness. Anyways, turning 100 with a history of lung collapses, peripheral neuropathy, pneumonia bouts, mild emphysema etc) Drop (20) going down from the worst drop 1. Vanessa Redgrave (emphysema for a long time + heart attack. Stableish for years now but you never know) 2. Hans Blix (TBE, weeks in ICU some years ago, housebound) 3. Clint Eastwood (increasingly frail, some health issues in the past, lost girlfriend recently) 4. Tom Baker (weight loss, health issues but seems to have been doing great for a year or two now) 5. Brigitte Bardot (serious respiratory problems) 6. Daniel Barenboim (does not seem as ill as we thought?) 7. Dick Cheney (enormous heart problems, see this - seems to have outlived all odds and the transplant won't last forever, but too stable now) 8. Alan Greenspan (boring, just very old) 9. Robert Wagner (old, COPD, but doesn't seem ill enough yet) 10. Prunella Scales (perennial dementia sufferer who is taking decades to die) 11. Mel Brooks (very old but seems healthy and active) 12. Josef Fritzl (too stable for my liking) 13. Pope Francis (recurring health problems, but has seemed better this year) 14. Louis Farrakhan (too stable for my liking) 15. Joe Bugner (severe dementia, but young and no reports of great decline) 16. Desmond Morris (seemingly healthy nonagenarian) 17. Patricia Routledge (seemingly healthy nonagenarian and younger than most of the other healthy nonagenarians on the list) 18. Robert Duvall (yet another boringly healthy nonagenarian) 19. Raul Castro (looks, sounds amazing despite previous cancer rumors) 20. Julie Walters (past cancer) Return (5): 1. Yoko Ono (lewy body dementia for ages, other ailments) 2. Liza Minnelli (ailing for a very long time now) 3. David Attenborough (very old, more quiet these days and should stay on the list until his death) 4. Douglas Hurd (very quiet for a long time, stroke in the past and said to suffer from other health problems) 5. Mike Ditka (strokes and heart attacks, has been in 24/7 care recently) Add (20): 1. Michael Tilson Thomas (glioblastoma, has outlived the expectations) 2. Mahathir Mohamad (enormous heart problems, very old, regular hospitalisations) 3. Ruth Buzzi (dementia for ages, strokes) 4. Tippi Hedren (advanced dementia) 5. Sam Nujoma (tons of hospitalisations) 6. Ian Smith (Ian Smith Cancer) 7. Joan Plowright (Very frail/ill for years according to forum members) 8. Eva Marie Saint (very old, forum favourite) 9. Antonia Fraser (last rites almost two years ago, kidney failure and a plethora of ailments) 10. Sophie Kinsella (glioblastoma #2) 11. Jose Mujica (cancer, kidney problems, vasculitis and other health issues) 20. Michael Bolton (see earlier posts)

2 pointsGeorge Michael died on this day 8 years ago, aged 53. - Michael's real name was Georgios Panayiotou- his father was a Greek immigrant to the UK. - In 1981, Michael would form Wham with Andrew Ridgeley. 1984 was the band's definitive year, with songs such as "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", "Everything She Wants", and "Careless Whisper" topping music charts all around the world: - Michael would go solo beginning in 1987, with his singles "I Want Your Sex" and (of course) "Faith" also being mega-hits. Later on in his career, Michael would become more political, with 2002's "Shoot the Dog" mocking the Blair administration: - Michael would come out as gay in 1998 following his arrest for engaging in lewd behavior in a public bathroom. He would make the song "Outside" to lampoon the incident: The police officer who arrested him would attempt to sue Michael for $10 million due to slander, but this case would be dismissed by the court. Michael's other legal troubles included his addiction to marijuana- still illegal to be smoked recreationally in the UK. - Michael died from an enlarged heart on Christmas Day in 2016. This is a case of life imitating art because... Congratulations to those who managed to win Whamageddon this year.

1 pointI've been allowed to see the first draft of the 2025 list. Some sensible picks ruined by the wacky choice of Jimmy Carter.
