So, anyway, we'll keep up the entertainment until somebody actually dies and gifts us some Deathrace points:

As usual, I'm posting this on behalf of a valued Inverse Dead Pool regular – it's the 2024 machotrouts' mum team: Dennis Skinner Michael J. Fox Janey Godley Joe Biden Yoko Ono Phil Collins Robert Wagner Dave Myers Bob Newhart Jonnie Irwin Buzz Aldrin Frank Field Bruce Willis Dick van Dyke Esther Rantzen William Shatner Joanne Woodward Mel Brooks Andy Taylor Prunella Scales Linda Nolan Roberta Flack Eva Marie Saint Shannen Doherty Rob Burrow SUB: June Spencer As scientific as all of her previous teams. Dennis Skinner is #1 because "aww, he was my nan & granddad's MP, I'm not having him dying".

Totally random but thought I'd share. Was copied into this photo earlier today. Charisma Records five-a-side team from just over 50 years ago. Phil Collins in fine shape, the two standing next to him are members of the band Capability Brown, the guy front left is the label's booking agent and the one bottom right is Peter Hammill (still recording aged 75 and obitable). Hammill amazes me tbh, intense and angsty beyond all reason on his best known albums, never thought to see him chipper and cheerful in a team photo. This line-up, apparently, were very effective and won a few games with ease.

Frankly this is a dire substitute for entertainment, over a week since a scoring death unless someone hereabouts is about to show me action from their local paper posting the death of a beloved school crossing guard who's also on the masterlist. I'm seeing similar lacklustre times on the other dead pools and even the DDP is shuffling along. In the meantime, here's a update from our sponsors, or summat.

Lenin lived, Lenin lives, Lenin will live.... ... in anecdotes! Lenin said: - There are only three real communists in the Party: Ulyanov, Lenin and me. Lenin was very sad that his mother did not live just a year before the revolution. "It would have been better, on the contrary, that I had not lived," he said in a fit of grief, and everyone tactfully agreed with him. Georgian feast: - Let's drink to Gogi - he fought in the gorge and avenged his brother! - Let's drink to Kvichi - he fought in the gorge and avenged his brother! - No, let's drink to Lenin - he avenged his brother! Stalin visits Lenin at the Gorky estate. - I feel very bad, I'm going to die soon. - Then give me the power. - I'm afraid the people will not follow you. - Part of the people will follow me, and the rest will follow you. The tablet: "In this house, in 1910, Vladimir Lenin hid with Inessa Armand from his wife, Nadezhda Krupskaya." - Nadezhda, where are my underpants? - While you were sleeping, Volodya, Bonch-Bruyevich came and took them for the Museum of the Revolution. The Russians sold Lenin's coffin to the Americans. The Americans put it on the roof of the tallest skyscraper in New York. Lenin stands up and looks around: - Well, this is how I imagined Communism... Lenin comes to life and asks for a copy of “Truth” for the last 70 years. He reads: "Reception in the Kremlin...", "Lunch in the Kremlin...", "Breakfast in the Kremlin...". - What have you given me? - Lenin is indignant. - It's a menu! Lenin was revived. A week later he received a summons from Israel from his maternal relatives and presented his papers to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. - Where are you going, Vladimir Ilyich? - To emigrate. Everything must start again! Bonus: a fragment of a ballet in Kazakhstan

Alright, let's see how this goes... 42 competitors have signed up, so the first round will consist of 10 match-ups to get down to a full roster of 32. The 20 highest-seeded players (or is that lowest-seeded?) will face off, i.e. those from no. 25 to 45 (with Pop_Zeus sitting out). So the list randomizer of random.org gives me this: Gooseberry Crumble (26) Famous6eva (42) GuyFromFuture (28) Liz Lemon (25) CalebH (29) Bibliogryphon (34) livingbygrace (new - 43) Therewillbedeaths7 (35) Dying Probably (37) max bossetti (new - 44) Wormfarmer (41) Thatcher (new - 45) Yorkshire Banker (27) DeathByArsenic (39) The Immortal (38) justonecornetto (36) GreatUncleBulgaria (40) MortalCaso (33) theoldlady (32) BabyBlue (30) I interpret this as: Gooseberry Crumble vs. Famous6eva GuyFromFuture vs. Liz Lemon CalebH vs. Bibliogryphon livingbygrace vs. Therewillbedeaths7 Dying Probably vs. max bossetti Wormfarmer vs. Thatcher Yorkshire Banker vs. DeathByArsenic The Immortal vs. justonecornetto GreatUncleBulgaria vs. MortalCaso theoldlady vs BabyBlue

Update of living people from the 1900s Old versions by @arghton November 2022 , January 2023 , February 2023 , May 2023 After the death of Bessie Hendricks (1907) on 3 January 2023 there were 25 living people born in the 1900s (Not counting Josephina Maria da Conceicao (1909) who died on 7 January 2023 and is only pending by LAS. Also not counting Kame Uema (1909) who is apparently still living but remains unvalidated). Now there are only 11 people remaining as 14 people died 6 January 2023 Shige Mineshiba (1909) 113:233 10 January 2023 Hide Hamabe (1908) 114:038 17 January 2023 Lucile Randon (1904) 118:340 25 January 2023 Shinobu Hayashi (1909) 113:316 27 January 2023 Annabelle Holblinger (1909) 113:317 6 February 2023 Yasue Okai (1908) 114:073 8 February 2023 Maria Aulenbacher (1909) 113:093 22 February 2023 Maki Hirabayashi (1909) 113:128 25 April 2023 Shina Seki (1909) 113:206 17 May 2023 Nina Willis (1909) 114:123 25 May 2023 Hazel Plummer (1908) 114:340 4 July 2023 Ushi Makishi (1909) 114:139 12 December 2023 Fusa Tatsumi (1907) 116:231 16 January 2024 Tane Matsubara (1909) 114:093 It was a bad period for Japanese SCs as 9 of the 14 who died were born in Japan (Shige Mineshiba was born in Japan but lived in Canada since age 60). Now 3 of the remaining 11 people (27%) are born in Japan, while back on 3 January 2023 12 of the remaining 25 people (48%) were born in Japan. The remaining 11 living people born in the 1900s 1) Maria Branyas Morera (1907) Oldest Living Person for more than 1 year. Oldest Person living in Spain ever. COVID survivor at 113, oldest emigrant ever. In relatively good shape for her age. 2) Edie Ceccarelli (1908) She has dementia, but is otherwise in relatively good shape. 3) Tomiko Itooka (1908) Active as an elderly person and centenarian. Survived stroke and brain surgery at 110. Looked strong especially compared to the other Japanese SCs, but had a small decline at 115. 4) Inah Canabarro Lucas (1908) Oldest Living nun, survived COVID at 114. The strongest of the people born before 1909. 5) Juan Vicente Perez Mora (1909) 4th oldest man ever (not counting Anisio Rodrigues Alves who is only pending) . Oldest Living Man for more than 2 years. In stable and relatively good shape for years. 6) Elizabeth Francis (1909) Seemed to be bedridden in early 2023 photo but more recent photos depict her in better shape. Her sister Bertha Johnson (1904–2011), lived to the age of 106, making them one of the oldest sibling pairs 7) Ethel Caterham Oldest Person in the UK since Ethel Lang (1900-2015). Survived COVID at 110. In good shape, stable during the last years. 8) Okagi Hayashi (1909) In good shape but she has some decline at 114. 9) Pearl Berg (1909) 3rd oldest Jewish person ever after Goldie Steinberg and Cecile Klein. Claims to be born in 1910. Looked great in her 113th birthday but frailer in 2023 photos, and seems to be on oxygen 10) Masa Matsumoto (1909) While being in good condition in her centenarian and early supercentenarian years she appears to have declined sharply since the age of 113. 11) Charlotte Kretchmann (1909) Oldest Person living in Germany ever. In great condition, celebrated her 114th birthday in a restaurant. Strongest person born in the 1900s so likely she could be the last survivor as she is also born at the end of 1900s (December 1909).

Ross Bagdasarian died on this day 52 years ago, aged 52. - Bagdasarian debuted on Broadway when he was 20, and would have minor roles in films that include Stalag 17 and Rear Window. - Bagdasarian would turn to songwriting, and wrote "Come On-a My House" in 1951- this was written for Rosemary Clooney, and it topped each of Billboard's charts (and therefore the Hot 100's precursor, the Honor Roll of Hits) in August of that year. He wrote it based off of an Armenian folk song (as Bagdasarian was the son of Armenian immigrants). - Bagdasarian would soon take the stage name "David Seville"; the surname came from the fact he was stationed in Seville in Spain during World War II. He would establish his career as a novelty artist by speeding up his voice, and recorded "Witch Doctor" in 1958- his first number one hit as a singer: - Later in 1958, Bagdasarian had a second number one hit with "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late", which introduced the virtual band of Alvin and the Chipmunks: (these were their original designs) This act would spawn a multimillion-dollar franchise- Bagdasarian would be the producer of their 1961-1962 animated show. He would also name his vineyard "The Chipmunk Ranch". - Bagdasarian died of a heart attack less than two weeks before his 53rd birthday. He willed his intellectual property to his family, and his son Ross Jr. and daughter-in-law Janice Karman are the current owners of Alvin and the Chipmunks.
