Surprised the Stones are doing so badly in this round after running away with the last one.

Je t'aime is iconic in its way. Is it any good? It's Ok, but in this company...

I thought JJF would smash this but this is a much tougher group.

I am still shocked by The Beatles snobbery that is on display here

Still not sure that the top five is right but it is getting harder to down vote things

@diego Why have you reacted with a sad face when in the previous post you downvoted Albatross with 6 votes?  You are the one who put it into the relegation spot.

Beatles songs are getting points because The Beatles did them, rather than because of how good the songs are. Which, of course, they’re very often not*.

I’d counter any accusations of being a music snob by pointing to the 90s game. I dished out the points for anything, from The Manics to The Spice Girls, while some people sat back and whinged that music was better a decade or two or three earlier. Which, of course, it’s not**.

There getting points because they're good and there's a whole brigade that downvotes them just because the Beatles did them.

Cool, and that’s exactly the opposite of what I said, so maybe we’re both wrong and people are just playing the game for what it is: bad songs -, good songs +.

Though maybe I’ll touch base with the rest of this “whole brigade” and see if they agree

Well, I'm not a snob or a member of a brigade.

Personally I've never been a fan of The Beatles. I don't like their songs.

On the other hand, one of the songs that touches my heart the most is "What A Wonderful World".

"What A Wonderful World" was played, three years ago, at my son's funeral.

He liked "What A Wonderful World" just as much as I did.

Believe it, or not, there's no reason to suspect a sinister motive behind my votes.

It's my personal taste.

Same could be said for Rolling Stones and Elvis TBH. I'm saying this as a Beatles fan mind you.

My thoughts exactly. I quite like a grand total of two Beatles songs (Michelle, While My Guitar Gently Weeps - though I thought for a long time that was just George Harrison) but the rest just aren’t to my taste; lots of them I just find aggravating. You’d have done your son so proud with What A Wonderful World, it’s a truly gorgeous song and I hope that, despite the sad associated occasion, it brings you comfort.

Same could be said for Rolling Stones TBH. I'm saying this as a Beatles fan mind you.

Rolling Stones fan here. I could sing the praises of Paint It Black (one of my faves in this game) and Gimme Shelter (definitely my fave song of theirs and of the 60s as a whole; it gives me goosebumps every single time), but I’ll readily admit that Honky Tonk Women belongs in the bin. Most of the best bands have done some bilge in their time.

Anyway, where were we?
