The Immortal 634 Posted January 19 About that time for a Medal of Honor recipient update, and especially since they had their annual convention back in November 2023. In the first pic Roger Donlon (in the wheelchair) continues to embrace being an immortal, attending the convention seemingly with ease despite Parkinson's and a stay in hospice back in August. Jay Vargas (bottom far left) is now using a cane. Barney Barnum (bottom far right) has been frail and using a cane for a while now so nothing new with him. In the second pic, I think that's 97 year old Ralph Puckett in the wheelchair 2nd from the right. Nothing I see of note besides that, though they are an aging bunch. Honestly at this point I think Jose Rodela who hasn't been seen around in ages because of dementia and heart failure, will go before Donlon or Puckett.
FinalChapter 75 Posted January 21 The most popular music video on YouTube right now, Nothing to Declare by MGMT, stars Inga Petry, a 24 year old woman who was born without arms, going about her day. TheKeysOfMarinus 390 Posted January 23 I think journalist Bill Harry (b. 1938) is one to watch. Perhaps not a big enough name for the committee but he is certain to obit - he created Mersey Beat magazine in 1961, thus coining the famous name for the Merseyside rock scene, and had a close association with the Beatles - he arranged for Brian Epstein to see them perform at the Cavern Club. He’s one of the last people alive who had a big impact on the Beatles’ story pre-fame. He is active on social media but I believe he has been quite unwell for some time. Annoyingly my first sub I think on my main DDP team, but of course he didn’t come into play as nobody died pre-New Year. Had a couple of Beatles related folk on my team already, so passed him up for the bench. Wishing him long life. Those early days’ pieces of information he knows are valuable. But of course, knowledge of the lesser known bands also.

livingbygrace 315 Posted January 27 I am starting to find more and more people to add to my long list that I would see as potential great picks for next year.. The Deathlist Cup might be an excellent opportunity for your "great picks". @ThereWillBeDeaths7, your opponent, is a notable player and you need experience. Don't you think so?

I already did put in my names for the Cup..It is definitely a different one being you have to try and pick people you think will die in one month instead of in a year. Yes Please give the experience to therewillbedeath7. I am really still a baby at this. This is my first year playing in the pools. I on my own did my own shadow list for last 2 years, and I can tell you my number of hits were not great. Nothing to write home about I a sure you. All I am hoping for is to maybe improve and have some fun doing so. If I get knocked out first round I am good, and know I played against a great player.

Not sure I could be called a "notable player" in terms of Cup succes yet, but it's a good motivation to reach the second round for sure!

I really liked playing with you two years ago... how quickly time passes! It was my first Cup and I wanted to win, but you made that so hard. @livingbygrace is a lucky player, her opponent is an exceptional person. Maybe our paths will cross again someday, @ThereWillBeDeaths7. Until then, have fun with @livingbygrace. I wish you both good luck.
