Octopus of Odstock 2,206 Posted February 23 From the now-locked 2008 I & P thread: Another name to add to the mix: Sabina Yasmin, an entertainment colossus in Bangladesh, is seriously ill with cancer. She would probably get an obit via the BBC South Asia pages, which often report Bollywood & other entertainment figures from that part of the world. 16 years on, Yasmin has cancer again - https://www.thedailystar.net/entertainment/music/news/sabina-yasmin-diagnosed-cancer-again-3550946

That confused me for a minute. The first time I read it I thought you meant The Cult singer, who is Ian Astbury. I should of just clicked on the link

One of two gents who famously bought a lion cub called Christian (wiki) from Harrods in 1969 (yes, you read that correctly!!) and then released it into the African wild. A year later, he went looking for it to see if the lion would remember him. It did, and this was the reaction: A reliable source has informed me that Christian the Lion's other owner, the Aussie author/artist/socialite, Anthony "Ace" Bourke, 77/78, is very ill with cancer. No Wiki page but he will get a QO. (pictured on the right here, next to John Rendall who died in 2022)

Gooseberry Crumble 5,347 Posted March 14 I was reading some discussions of this years Oscars ceremony elsewhere on the Internet and a few people pointed out that Warren Beatty was not with his Oscar nominated wife Annette Benning at the ceremony. Might be something. Might be nothing but definitely worth mentioning.
The Immortal 636 Posted March 16 Jim Lovell. Since his wife's death there's been complete radio silence and no one in my groups is sure of his current status, also he'll be turning 96 soon so if he lives to 2025 he's a strong candidate to consider. He's a better pick than Aldrin (who's still active on Twitter) in my opinion.

Jim Lovell was notably absent from the unveiling of an "Ohioans in Space" mural at the Ohio Statehouse, but he appeared on video. Gene Kranz was there in-person and delivered a lengthy speech.

Lovell is based in Lake Forest, Illinois so not exactly close to the location but usually he would make the effort to show up for an occasion like this so even if he's not having health issues, it indicates age has taken it's toll.
