Dead Pop Stars

Recommended Posts

Bobby Freeman, an American singer whose #5 hit 'Do You Wanna Dance' went on to be covered by The Beach Boys, Bette Midler and Cliff Richard, has reportedly died aged 76.

Sad news and great song. However, the Mr.Bojangles yassirbossin Negro outfit in that video -- entertaining an all white crowd like Mantan and Sleep-and-Eat from Bamboozled -- is a frightening reminder of where we were in America in 1958. Course just look around in 2017 I reckon.

Deke Leonard, guitarist of Man, has died aged 72.

So inside of a week we lost the drummer for Can and the guitarist for Man.

Not a pop star by any means but at a loss where to place this otherwise.

So a rather popular shoegaze Detroit-area band called Majesty Crush was around in the late 80s, early 90s. I didn't know singer David Stroughter personally but saw them a couple times in clubs and I did play music with his bandmates from later projects. Apparently Mr. Stroughter, now in L.A., decided to go to the airport on a high speed chase, alight from his vehicle wielding an ax at police, and promptly received his just reward.

Sad to hear, but if you're going to go out, you may as well go out in a Detroit-like manner. RIP

Don't knock it, the opening triple shot of our List of the Lost radio show is already scripted and loaded into the folder - to put it crudely we need about ten minutes worth of radio per month from 2017 to make the pulling together of the final show a doddle - the two above plus an obscure Glitter Band album track are already good to go.

I had a feeling my post would leave this question in necessity of an answer. And here it is!

Greg Gilbert, frontman of The Delays, has stage 4 bowel cancer.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/delays-frontman-diagnosed-cancer-fiance-9495030

Guess he'll soon find out if the last night on earth is for living.

Told that pioneering treatment he's been crowdfunding will extend his life... by about a fortnight.

If the fortnight begins on December the 17th there will be troubles for DDP.

Sonny Geraci, lead singer of The Outsiders and Climax, has died aged 69.

Who?

As long as it's not Klymaxx....

Have a certified gold single and 5 top 40 hits, including 2 in the top 5 and be mocked on a forum about death - it's a good job poor Sonny is dead so he can't feel this pain.
