That's an error I would expect from a guest or a complete newbie.

Oh boy, some people still haven't figured out that MediaMass has the same goddamn article for every single celebrity? A mod oughta make a pinned thread explaining this.

No idea who he is or what exactly he does in the music industry, and that's AFTER reading this article.  But I presume this is the correct place to drop it.

Christopher Mercer, aka British bass music pioneer Rusko, is undergoing treatment for gastric lymphoma, a type of stomach cancer. In a note posted to Twitter, the producer explained that he has returned to the UK to receive treatment following a stay in an American hospital. He added that all upcoming shows have been cancelled, though new music is on the way.

Though it may be posthumous.

Major name in dubstep a few years back, iirc he was one of the big names in "brostep" but I will plead to an ignorance of the genre so I may be wrong. Guaranteed Guardian obit within 30 minutes of him dying, no question.

All that sounds about right Spade.  Hadn't heard the term 'bass music' before, gun to my head I'd have guessed dubstep of some sort (I don't know all the breakdowns and subsets lol).  He looked like a lock step obit, thought being young he should have some time left even if things head south quickly.

Don't expect any more of the utterly forgettable synthpop from Robert Miles.

Dead at 47.

As for trance/synthpop music, I believe it was George Santayana who said, "Those who ignore the first 32 bars are doomed to repeat it."

Small indirect update on the cancer fight of my reserve team joker Gary De Carlo:

http://mynewsla.com/hollywood/2017/05/04/cancer-battle-for-hey-hey-goodbye-singersongwriter-dems-sing-tune-to-gop-over-obamacare-repeal/

The cancer has invaded several body parts. And as his signature song is still in heavy use, I think the obit is becoming fairly likely. But he's still active and not on death's door yet.
