To be fair MacGowan's pumped enough poison into an - almost - 67 year old body he's likely in the same shape as 99 year old Philip was.

Advent avalanche is just over a week away

He has not been sent home to die. He's off oxygen and that's a damn good sign for someone like Shane.

IMHO he just survived the ordeal this time.

He has not been sent home to die.

Apparently he has to cash his royalty cheques from Fairytale in person. Once he's done that, back to the hospital bed.

:P

Is there a pub between the bank and the hospital?

Nick Cave's social media has latterly been posting the "say a prayer for him" angle on Shane, I saw one brave/highly foolish response from a person saying "never heard of him"

Either way, everyone's already discussing his legacy - less than two days to the Advent Avalanche

Either that or he is on palliative care and chooses not to have oxygen for comfort.

It's been expected for over thirty years but still quite sad tbh. He was a genuine legend.

Wow, what a day. I’m putting my money on Jimmy passing tomorrow, though till just a moment ago I would have given him till a few days after Christmas.

No One gets out of November alive!

A second hit for my TOTP theme team (unheard of!) among others but I'm not going to post Fairytale which was the Pogues biggest hit of 1987.

This is what happens when you pop out for a ciggie....

♪ The boys of Dublin Hospital choir still singing F.O.N.Y., which is probably going to be the country's #1 for Christmas Day. ♪

RIP.

FFS, that is doubly shite timing, denying the Advent Avalanche and also just too soon to allow the usual boost for Christmas and ensuing wave of sympathy to give Fairytale of New York a #1 (highest ever is #2, though it's hit the top five a few times)
