VSBfromH 74 Posted March 8, 2013 Ball's Out Kenny Ball has died aged 82, after suffering from pneumonia. Sad news. He had been performing up until very recently as one of the "3 Bs", the other being Acker Bilk and Chris Barber. They are now aged 84 and and 82 respectively. maryportfuncity 10,647 Posted June 24, 2013 Doing some research for my radio show this weekend I came across the fact that Ken Nordine (off-the-wall pioneer of word jazz) is still alive; b.1920 and has led a colourful enough life (including being voice coach for Linda Blair in The Exorcist) that he may well be obit-worthy. Found nowt on his current state of health, mind.

harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy 1,689 Posted September 20, 2013 Bloody hell, why haven't we got an avant-prog/free improvisation/contemporary classical thread?! I blame the disappearance of Anubis, but surely Maryport could've started one instead? Anyway, the world won't have to suffer anymore squawking/honking/droning from Henry Cow/Comus etc member and composer Lindsay Cooper, who's died of MS (so I guess she hadn't been skronking for a while). Four-page spread in The Wire and a 2-hour tribute on Strange Fruit coming soon?
