Thistle legend. Sad news if true.

Auld by name, old by nature.

With Ole Solskjaer getting the boot this weekend, it reminded me that two other crap Manchester United managers from way back when, Wilf McGuinness (1969-70) and Frank O'Farrell (1971-72) are both still alive 84 and 94 respectively.

A modified Rod Hull gambit?  Definitely worthy of the epithet 'Slightly bizarre, but tragic' that the BBC used in that case.

An inquest is currently underway, following the death of former referee Gordon Hill, who died in 2019, aged 90.  Afflicted with dementia, he fell from a roof in an ultimately doomed attempt to abscond from his residential home.

I watched the short video in the link about his art. In it was shown the cover of his book "Give a little whistle". (1975).

The cover pic featured himself and the late great Tommy Smith who died less than a month later on 12th April aged 74.

Frank Burrows, who played for Raith Rovers, Scunthorpe and Swindon in a fourteen year career, and also managed Cardiff City to promotion twice amongst a long managerial career, has died aged 77.

His last managerial role was caretaker at Leicester City, where he was succeeded by Ian Holloway.

This doesn't count for Mustafa Cengiz: https://www.bbc.com/turkce/spor-59450894

Will he get an English language obit?

He has english ones, but no qualifying ones so far. Admittedly, his resignation from the position in August decreased the chances.

Maybe some match reports mention a tribute next week.

Heard interview with his old Coventry manager when they won the English Cup 30 years ago.

John Sillett sounded every one of his 81 years. Short of breath , four or five words and 'gasp', if he sees 85 I'd be surprised.

Dead aged 85.
