Spade_Cooley 9,536 Posted January 8 Just a quick listmania following Der Kaiser's death. Still-living Ballon d'Or podium-placers pre-1970 Karl-Heinz Schnellinger (3rd 1962) Gianni Rivera (2nd 1963, 1st 1969) Denis Law (1st 1964) Dragan Džajić (1968 3rd) Gigi Riva (2nd, 1969) Law obviously on the DL and presumably a Drop 40 for this year. Rivera looked pretty good in this interview for his 80th birthday last year. Džajić is still active as head of the Serbian FA. Riva still turns up on Italian football coverage now and then but he never had the healthiest lifestyle. And I have no clue about Schnellinger, any of our German boardmembers have any inside details?
gcreptile 10,978 Posted January 8 Update on Christoph Daum: https://m.bild.de/sport/fussball/fussball/christoph-daum-kampf-gegen-krebs-ex-trainer-tankt-in-thailand-kraft-86674526.bildMobile.html He's going to Thailand during Chemo break. He's had 20 rounds of chemo so far. He's aiming for a complete healing, but so far the cancer is just "stable". So it's not "terminal" yet, but the tumour seems somewhat chemo-resistant. Might be worth looking for updates in a couple of months. The chemo will eventually fail, but since the cancer hasnt spread, he'll hang on for a bit.

Don't think he'll be troubling any lists for another few years Agreed. He regularly gives media interviews and sounds very much all there (mostly tributes these days to deceased colleagues). He also looks in good shape physically and could easily pass for ten years younger. With a fair wind, he will hopefully be around for a good while longer.
