Lord Fellatio Nelson 6,218 Posted November 20, 2008 Unless I am missing the point here, I thought the deathlist was all about the committee completely ignoring everyone's random suggestions and going ip dip dog sh*t on the beer fuelled night in question that such a list might be drawn up. Maybe the lack of discussion is a sign people have decided to just let those founding fathers from Warwick* still in contact to do, what is after all, "their thang". But if you could see your way clear to putting Any one Pompey fan on the list, I'd be ecstatic. They are famous. Famous for being complete chavvy bastards. *pronounced Warrick for our friends over the pond, now go work on Leicester You are not missing the point Monkey. This thread, with all due respect, is a complete waste of f*****g time. All the names so far mentioned could have gone onto the Ideas and Possibilities thread where, again, they could be completely f*****g ignored. Its their ball and they will decide who they let play with it. And thats fair enough.

Anubis the Jackal 77 Posted November 20, 2008 I also agree that Sir John Mortimer is worth the risk but I'm unaware of his fame status. Does he have Alzheimers or is it just me? Nope, It's just you.
Windsor 2,233 Posted November 20, 2008 All suggestions are gratefully considered. I still think Castro is dead already. If Castro was dead, the new President would be keen to announce it to mark the real beginning of his regime out of his brother's shadow. I think Castro is still alive, but only just. Patrick Swayze (I say this with a heavy heart) I don't think he will die in 2009. I know he has cancer but he seems to be doing alright at the minute. He probably should be included on the list just incase, but I don't think he is a dead cert for 2009. Then again, I didn't think that Tony Snow's cancer was that serious... I'll tell you who I am considering though - Michael Jackson. By all accounts he is not a well man, and I think if he is not put on the list he could end up as one of those big names who manage to slip past us. (Even though Swayze would probably be considered more ill than Michael Jackson).

Maybe he'll be the "shocking" death of 2009, ala Heath Ledger in 2008, Anna Nicole Smih in 2007, and Steve Irwin in 2006. Patrick Swayze is very surprisingly resilient. But when I saw pictures of him, I get the impression that he's hangin' in there but not really doing all that great. Most people anticipate that he will live at least until next Spring (2009) but there's the outside chance he could live longer even.

Also it's become full of newbies suggesting the first old people they can think of or suggestions who die a couple of days later. I don't see what is wrong with this thread which is focussing only on those suitable for the DL. Yes it will be ignored, but why shouldn't voice an opinion? harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy 1,689 Posted November 20, 2008 Can we have someone from the 1988 list, please? I could cite a few examples. Failing that, how about Andrea de Cesaris?
The Unknown Man 584 Posted November 22, 2008 Brooks Mileson - businessman & chairman of Gretna FC. Has only one kidney, his diet is "100 cigs & Lucozade", has had two heart-attacks, has ME & on top of all this, has just been in hospital with internal bleeding. Brooks Mileson died on November 4, 2008. His name should be removed from the list as well.

In failing health for years, and unable to travel any more due to illness & frailty, turned 90 this year. dead So the Sydney Opera House was finished in 1973, has been an iconic piece of architecure for essentially all of its 35 years, and the miserable git stayed in such a strop he never went and saw it in person? He can claim his rightful place in the list of longest running Scandinavian sulks, along with: Greta Garbo Bjorn Borg Ingmar Bergman The blonde one out of Abba

He can claim his rightful place in the list of longest running Scandinavian sulks, along with: Greta Garbo Bjorn Borg Ingmar Bergman The blonde one out of Abba I expect King Cünt Cnut threw his teddy out of the pram when the waves ignored him. Mika Hakkinen ran away from F1 when his car turned crap. Anita Ekberg refuses to go back to Sweden and makes Bardot look like a sweet old lady. Edvard Munch was a basketcase and probably did his fair share of pouting, and I'm sure Ibsen wasn't the life and soul of the party either.

Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted December 1, 2008 The blonde one out of Abba It's been less a sulk and more mental health problems there, hasn't it? Nothing about that on wiki or on this website about her. http://www.agnetha.net/AGNETHA.html -------------------------- Rest of Abba: "Agnetha, they're offering us a billion dollars to reunite. Do you know how many kroner that is?" Aggie: "My looks have faded, men won't look at my bum anymore". Rest of Abba: "In 2008, our music is almost as relevant, and certainly more respected, than it was back when we recorded it". Aggie: "That bitch Frida sold more solo records than me. She hates me. She's always hated me. She's jealous." Rest of Abba: "They just made a movie based on the wildly successful stage show, named for one of our songs. It was crap but millions of people went to see it. They even sing along, right there in the cinema. To recorded music. Every concert we give will be the musical event of the year in wherever we play." Aggie: "I vont to be alone." It's 'I vont to be alone......cos I'm eccentric and a little scary.' I think. The story as I recall it is that she was the working class girl drafted in, her female Abba-mate was fathered by a German soldier to a Norwegian mother so the pair weren't exactly soul mates, and Aggie kinda got bitter and twisted as a result. Not so much bull-goose looney as major chip on the shoulder.

Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted December 3, 2008 OK, some interesting suggestions so far. Going forward, in this thread can people please put a supporting reason why someone should be considered a DL candidate for 2009. A link to a relatively recent news article, a picture showing the person in frail health, an anonymous insight from a family member that so-and-so "has gone home to die", etc. If there's been tons of news recently and the person has already been discussed on the DL, then presume he or she will already be on the Committee's radar, e.g. Swayze and Seve. It's that extra bit of specialist knowledge that someone's secretly just weeks or months from death that would be really handy. The younger and more famous the better. maryportfuncity 10,647 Posted December 3, 2008 Yeah, speaking of reasons, I can't find anything on obvious ill health for Alan Sillitoe, in remarkably good form last time I heard him interviewed. Can't add too many to the above though I'd say Susan Atkins should be there, especially if Ronnie Biggs is fair game, and I think we should have one of the mobile train wrecks - Gazza/ Amy/ Alex Higgins - on board, if only to keep alive the original devil may care spirit of the early lists. Obviously, as one who's only been around 4 of the 20+ years, I missed the old wildcatting days.

Octopus of Odstock 2,197 Posted December 3, 2008 OK, some interesting suggestions so far. Going forward, in this thread can people please put a supporting reason why someone should be considered a DL candidate for 2009. Er.. Isn't that what the Ideas & Possibilities thread (not the sticky, the one done by CP) was set-up for? Most people use it, so why not DL, as that was the reason why it was created. But in case anyone is too lazy to check that out, two I will name: John Mortimer - in hospital regularly in 08 Eunice Kennedy Shriver - very frail & her husband is ill with dementia. If he passes, she is likely to follow him swiftly.
