Zhou Youguang has died according to some tweets. He turned 111 just yesterday.

putting this Chinese site into Google translate seems to confirm it ... http://news.sina.com.cn/c/nd/2017-01-14/doc-ifxzqnim4370193.shtml

He was the oldest 'celebrity ' centenarian. Thought he'd never go !

The new Number One is now Zoltan Sarosy, a hungarian chess master. He is 110 years old

My new "old top ten" from my list, as it stands.

1. Zoltan Sarosy (b. 1906) - chess master

2. Sree Sree Shivakumara Swami (b. 1907) - Indian educationalist/religious figure

3. Barys Kit (b. 1910) - mathematician

4. Gillo Dorfles (b. 1910) - Italian critic

5. Elder Wilson (b. 1910) - gospel singer

6. Katherine Fryer (b. 1910) - English artist

7. Johan Van Hulst (b. 1911) - Dutch politician

8. Fauja Singh (b. 1911) - marathon runner

9. Eric P Newman (b. 1911) - American academic

10. Renee Simonot (b. 1911) - French actress

Not counting Morano or Overton.

Though the thing about these lists is the last time I did a spring cleaning to a year, I wound up adding half a dozen new names to it instead!

I wouldn't be surprised if he died within days. They often seem to go at one time for some weird reason and he's only a few months younger than Zhou was

Yes, he has not long left. Shivakumara Swamiji will be the next Number One before June.

Tomorrow former Vietnames Prime Minister Do Muoi will enter the club. Still looks amazing for his age.

Matilde Capuis, Italian organist, passed away on 31st Jan. She was 104. Only obit I could find was in Italian.

That leaves Cecilia Seghizzi as the only ultracentenarian Italian female composer.
