Yael Dayan has suffered from COPD for 17 years and it has advanced to the point they've done a tracheotomy on her. She was also in serious condition three years ago.

Apparently not the first time the death of someone still alive has been announced in the Knesset - former minister Amnon Rubinstein was announced dead in 2000 when he was in hospital, still alive 23 years later, now 91.

Yael Dayan has passed away aged 85.

Apologies.

It was Craig Mackinlay who had near fatal blood poisoning, not Craig Whittaker. I get the two of them confused.

Returns to parliament tomorrow.

Just an update on Mackinlay - both hands and feet amputated as a result of sepsis. Footage of him here.

Oh, but that's more to do with the fact that the Tory party are a bunch of nutters now rather than a serious party of government.

This time the politician wasn't frail. The podium was.  A gust of wind was enough to topple the stage; nine dead!

Jo Churchill MP and Dame Eleanor Laing MP both announced today that they're standing down at the election. Laing has cancer, Churchill at least did in the past.

Worth keeping an eye on both.

Czech President Petr Pavel has been taken to hospital after injuring himself while riding a motorcycle, his office has said.

It said the injuries "are not serious", but a "short observation" was required. It gave no further details.

Thursday's accident is the latest extra-curricular injury the Czech leader has suffered. In April, he suffered an injury while firing a weapon at a shooting range.
The former general suffered a minor laceration near his eyebrows while shooting with a rifle equipped with an optic, his office said at the time.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been hospitalized since New Year's Day, including spending four days in ICU after complications from a "minor, elective surgery"

It's been a minor scandal that Austin and the Pentagon did not disclose his condition. IIRC, Attorney General Garland had a minor surgery recently and notified the public.

The whole line of succession goes into effect when Biden has a routine colonoscopy, why aren't we told when the top national security official in the country is in the ICU for nearly a week?

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin is undergoing another procedure, will hand over responsibilities to his deputy.
