No more Le Pen death hoaxes, no more Linda Nolan attention seeking in the media. End of yet another era.

Those, and the death of Jimmy Carter were most certainly the Horcruxes of 2024.

Perhaps normal Grim Reaper service shall now proceed?

We still have a bit of James Whale attention seeking.

And long term lingers like Nigel Starmer-Smith and Joanne Woodward.

Presumably this is why there's currently 284 guests viewing this site.

In fairness, I was one of those for years!

Maybe there should be a thread created for the remaining… 4? 14? 24? Nolan sisters and their offspring.

I really don't think we should give them any more attention unless their health actually merits it.

God knows they'll be milking this for months now. Tabloid trash galore. "Life after Linda". They'll get their book deal and reality show signed off just in time for floaty dress season.

I never was really interested about her as she's not well known outside of the UK but that still is quite "shocking" in a sense, she lingered for so long that I didn't pick her in my DDP team… What a miss.

She must have had a pretty recent decline considering she was still trolling about deadpooling a week or two ago

Double pneumonia got her in the end

Crem's fantasies are always partly founded in reality.

Seems like Nolan died of pneumonia - probably made worse by chemo.

And we've had quite a few pneumonia cases lately.

So those who thought that cancer wouldn't kill her, are somewhat right (but still wrong in the end).

The fact she died from pneumonia after all this cancer drama for years is… quite ironical to say the least. The headlines are misleading and refer to her death as being caused by cancer.

God knows how long she could have gone without pneumonia, probably a year more imo.

The headlines are correct though. Her death certificate will state pneumonia as a cause but will also say “complication of cancer” next to it.

Without the cancer it’s unlikely she would have died from the pneumonia. The chemo lowered her immune system enough to make the pneumonia problematic.

Wikipedia now list the cause of death as double pneumonia. Seems she hit the jackpot with that.

That one Twitter deadpooler should be thanking his lucky stars that he didn't reply with "you will begin to cough in 3 days".

I actually dropped her from my shadow list this year and can honestly say I don't regret my decision.

I'm sure being immune-compromised from cancer treatment didn't help, but there really is something to this years long ordeal ending from the flu

A lot of people with cancer die from complications such as pneumonia.Chemo ruins your immune system and can leave you so compromised that a bad cols let alone the flu could hasten your demise.

I did the same although Inmm regretting it.Still I kept her on my DDP team. Not with any enthusiasm just because she had a 100% chance of being on the Drop 40(She was 3rd).

Seemingly the Guardian have been expecting her death for a while too, as the author of her obituary died in 2019.

Why do so many obituary writers die before the person they wrote about. It should be rare occurrence but it has happened multiple times - do some newspapers use elderly or ill people to write obituaries?

They get the people with the most experience and knowledge in the area and it's likely that those people will be older, pre-written obits are for the big names and when those people, like Jimmy Carter, live an extraordinarily long life, it shouldn't be too surprising if the obit writer goes before the subject.

In Nolan's case it seems a bit weird to have an obituary on ice for at least 6 years, but the guardian seems to have a massive backlog of pre-written obits, covering anyone who has even been within an inch of fame.
