msc 18,477 Posted April 24, 2021 Missed some online course on sexual harassment as she was recovering from open-heart surgery last year, apparently. She's also selling off her possessions as she is selling her London home to move to a cottage in the countryside - retirement from the Lords pending? I don't care that the Crem has ninja'd this after an hour, the extra details are of interest to us, imo.

The Daredevil 1,189 Posted February 27, 2023 I literally looked up her wiki page 20 minutes ago and all was fine! I was also then seriously contemplating she might not be a worthy pick until 2025!
msc 18,477 Posted February 27, 2023 Genuine parliamentary heavyweight - none of her successors as Speaker are even close imo. 1 minute ago, The Daredevil said: I literally looked up her wiki page 20 minutes ago and all was fine! You need to start jinxing the right people like Rolf, Cheney, Sidney Cooke, etc instead!

Lafaucheuse 4,051 Posted February 27, 2023 Oh, a real shock ! I wasn't familiar with her until her appearance on DL. And I must say the "order order" video is really fun.
Ulitzer95 12,641 Posted February 27, 2023 Really upset to hear this. Lucky to have met her a few times. She was active until quite recently around Westminster. They don’t make Labour politicians like her anymore.

Benedict was, Newton John was, Vialli was because they were so ill, so frail, and so famous. Boothroyd on the other hand wasn't ill and there was frailer people in their 90's who deserved her place on the list. Even Crosby wasn't a miss I think.
TQR 14,398 Posted February 27, 2023 I give people the benefit of the doubt when they say “huge miss” by assuming they mean “stupid omission”, but BB wasn’t even that; she appeared to be in great nick right up to the end.

RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted February 27, 2023 Huge miss from the point of view that someone of her standing deserved to be on the DL when they died, but agree there was no reason to expect her passing this year. What a woman. RIP Betty.
