And I'm pointing out that as we don't make the decisions, we can't explain them. The situation is: The committee put Gates senior on the list, therefore he automatically gets a thread. He wouldn't have a thread if he wasn't on the list. The general feeling among most members is that he isn't independently famous enough to warrant being on the list, and neither is Roberta McCain.

Gates Sr only has a thread because he's on the DeathList (not exactly a page I'm on, but the committee has their ways...). If it wasn't for that he'd never have a standalone thread.

I am a gay man and I am inclined to agree with you. A number of people I follow on linkedin and Facebook etc make the very reasonable point that if a man had had an affair or sex with a woman whilst married he would be condemned but a gay male doing the same with a man would be lauded as brave by other people. It is inconsistent. I dont believe this has been prompted by anything other than he was about to be outed by somebody. If rumours are true a disgruntled male ex possibly. Whatever our views on that ,coming out under threat of exposure is not brave or gradual as he portrayed. The lauding of him is too sugary for me. I am interested which person you are referring to in your last sentence? Surely not Piers Morgan or am I picking you up wrong?

Pass the sick bag. I am disgusted at all the fawning over PS. He isn't "brave". It takes a coward to cheat, betray and lie to another person (for nearly 30 years!) in order to use them as a smokescreen. To those who claim that he would have been unemployable in his role as a family-friendly celebrity ..... there's somebody else pictured near here who's got away with staying in the closet for years without ruining a woman's life.

Feel free to question the committee. Good luck with that. Anyway, why are you so keen to have a separate thread for Roberta McCain? There's not much to say about her.

John Treagood, one of the last dwellers of a horse-drawn caravan and a familiar sight in Devon for at least thirty years, has apparently died. https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/devon-traveller-john-treagood-died-3830741 A very intelligent man - the story goes that he was a lecturer at Leeds University in the 1970s before walking out for his lunch break one day, never to return.

Michael Medwin is 96. He was a matinee idol in the 50's but many will remember him as the radio boss in Shoestring in which he was the superior of Trevor Eve's investigative radio reporter. When Trevor Eve declined the opportunity to do any more series, the creator of the show Robert Banks Stewart was asked to come up with another series & he devised Bergerac which ran for 9 series & made a star of John Nettles.

Then why is Bill Gates Sr on deathlist? Roberta McCain is pretty much the main thing discussed here, so why cant we have our own thread for her?

Update (January 31): Coronavirus death toll raised to 213: https://edition.cnn.com/asia/live-news/coronavirus-outbreak-01-31-20-intl-hnk/index.html Edit 1: Okay, so since no other users have posted in this thread, I guess this post will instead be updated daily, to avoid double posting. Edit 2: Alright, that's it. I'll no longer update this daily because it's so tedious. Don’t know the year but the biggest death of the decade will be Queen Elizabeth II. Starting to look her age now. I’d guess between 2024-28. It would be counterproductive to live any longer.

Please could the rest of you refrain from putting 'Prince Philip' as a most important death. It won't be the most important death for that WEEK. Talk about having blinders on. Jesus. No one outside of the UK could pick him out of a lineup. yeah, real fucking important chap, him.
