While we wait for the 2021 site to go up, why not enjoy the annual DDP Year in Review. Or not.

Australia's oldest person Mabel Crosby seems to have died 29 December 2020: https://the110club.com/mabel-crosby-1909-2020-t24670.html Now seems to be being reported behind various paywalls of newspapers in Australia. Just in case she was picked for this year.

Shame she wasn't in 'You Only Live Twice'.

They have a committee vote on entry applications. They were looking for people to join that committee a few years back, if I recall correctly. You can't play the game if you are on it, though. Interestingly (not really), a year before William H. Gates was included on the Death List he was actually removed from their database... because of me, basically. Was being helpful by sending them birth dates for a number of database residents and it triggered a second look at him, and a few others. He was deemed not famous enough to stick around.

And we can only thank you again for your calm troubleshooting this time last year! Memory lane for you, I know... 2021: Sounds like 1000 new names (give or take) out of circa 10.5k picks in total (although obviously many of them will be popular names, iirc 2020 saw 1400 unique picks among 3300 names). Many of them badly, badly spelt. Not convinced some of them actually exist a people tbh. Once the new names are all checked, the big Access file with every single team is generated at which points I look for picks that shouldn't be there. This system can also generate the Drop 40 at this point, but sometimes gremlins get in the way - it deleted George Alagiah last year! At which point, barring errors, Reptile can upload the new webpages and I'll update the front page urls. When it's written down like that, it all sounds simple... Surprised to learn Charles Dance and Diane Keaton had never been picked before.

I think the whole "she will be so heartbroken when her husband dies" view overstates things. They are hardly Doris and Dennis who have spent every waking moment with each other! They've barely spent any time sharing the same bed throughout their marriage and there are major doubts about whether either have been remotely faithful. It's a business relationship. Nothing wrong with that, better than many marriages! The death will probably impact the Queen to the same extent Barbara Windsor dying affected June Brown. The loss of a comfy pair of slippers, sure. The loss of an irreplaceable part of her being? Not likely.

Running this again, for better or worse. Please submit a list of names from this year's deathlist to predict who on the list is actually going to die this year. Points will be allocated as follows: +1 per death correctly predicted -1 per death incorrectly predicted +4 if the number of deaths you predict matches the actual number of deaths, i.e. the number of names in your list matches the actual number of deaths +2 if you only miss the correct total number of deaths by 1 -2 if you miss the total number of deaths by more than 5 +1 bonus for a "unique" correct prediction (predicted by no other punter here) +1 bonus if you pick the bookie's favourite (single most popular guess in this contest) and they are a hit. -1 penalty if you pick the bookie's favourite and they are a miss. A further +1 bonus for every 3rd correctly predicted death (+1 on 3rd, 6th, 9th etc) You may if you wish select one entry as a joker. We are changing the rules for the Joker this year: you get an additional +2 if correct, and an additional -2 if incorrect; no more multiplication. In the event of a tie on points, the dead-lock (see what I did there) will be broken by the following: 1) Whichever team had the most hits 2) If unbroken by 1, whichever team was closest in their guess of predicted deaths for the year 3) If unbroken by 1 and 2, whichever team was submitted first. Entries in by Jan 10th, please, either by pm or by posting here. Any deaths before then will still score for any lists entered at least 24 hours before the death and will still count towards the total deaths for the year. Good luck.

Like a few of the Glasgow seats, it strikes me as the type of place that would drop the SNP quickly if their voters thought they could get rid of Boris (which no one clearly thought in 2019). Its sort of ebbed and flowed according to the national SNP position whereas some other seats have remained fairly consistent - Chris Law's seat now seems fairly safe Nat for example.

As a constituent in the area and eligible to vote, Labour would not be a shock take for Rutherglen. It has see sawed, Labour regaining from the SNP in 2017 and losing again in 2019. Labour's vote is remarkably consistent, SNP voters have to get out to vote. There are parts of the constituency which are either Hard Tory or Hard LibDem, but both are so small as to make both also-rans in UK Parliament elections. It won't be COVID or Ferrier's trip that decides it though, if it were to take place.

Kid was 12, and did one thing, and that was design a shoe, so here he shall be placed. Just weeks after he got to see Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones' thrilling 77-yard touchdown run in the brightly colored cleats he designed, 12-year-old Ethan Haley has died. The Rochester, New York, boy was diagnosed in 2018 with anaplastic ependymoma, multiple tumors on his brain and spinal cord. He had undergone multiple surgeries and more than 80 rounds of radiation before receiving palliative care. Haley died Dec. 20, one day before Jones was selected for the NFL Pro Bowl. In late November, Jones surprised Haley with a video call to tell him he chose his design for "My Cause, My Cleats," the NFL’s annual campaign in which players raise awareness for a nonprofit organization or a cause of their choosing by wearing custom-designed cleats. Jones’ virtual meeting with the Haleys was shared in a video (see below). Ethan’s infectious smile was front and center, maybe biggest when he received a pair of cleats just like the ones he designed for Jones. “I was truly humbled to meet Ethan and his family. It tugged on the heartstrings a bit, but in an uplifting way, because his smile and positivity is so infectious,” Jones told the Green Bay Press-Gazette in December. “As a father, I definitely think about all of the kids and their families facing this challenge each day and I’m so inspired by their fight.” The cleats made Week 13 highlight reels thanks to Jones' career long 77-yard touchdown run with just minutes to go against the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 6 at Lambeau Field. _______________________ Sad story but also shows not all athletes are rubbish. Aaron Jones sounds like a great guy. And yes, he's a damn good player. Watch this video.

Here is a video when he’s told the news mid-interview. Who knew she’s dating Peter Pettigrew.

Aw, c'mon - all these marginal fame cases, all that careful research - seriously, are we gonna go a whole day without anyone scoring?

Must be a right ball-ache doing it manually. I reckon it might be possible to set up an Excel spreadsheet that would work it all out for you though. If I find myself bored during 2021, which looks increasingly possible, I might see what I can knock up for you (assuming you intend to do it again next year!)

Potentially so, transitioning to a 50-odd year-old William with children in their late teens/early 20s, ushering in a slightly younger, more 21st Century monarchy.
