Report of the death of Andy Remic, author of thrillers and science fiction such as Spiral and A Song For No Man's Land:
Wrote text adventures for the ZX Spectrum as a child, so I'm guessing he was mid-50s, maybe slightly older? Twitter indicates he had been very ill.

Original.
No.
And much, much fewer members invested in what would become a very boring game.
No. It was started in the UK. By all means start your own American one if you resent the UK-centricity that much. Which many of our American friends (and friends from many other nations) on here really don’t mind (I won’t say all; we all know what a ballbag SC is). And crucially, it’s not “only” make the UK news; it can make the news in as many nations as you could possibly wish, just so long as it’s newsworthy in the UK.
The official DL is the official DL. Like it or lump it.
Anyway, thanks for dropping by.

If both teams from any of these ties like this post, I will publicly post the results of the coin toss for their match.
Magomed Tushayev, Chechen warlord president Ramzan Kadyrov's general reportedly killed in Ukraine.
Sadly not Kadyrov himself. He sent around 10,000 soldiers to Ukraine.
The event has been cancelled by the Foreign Office. That should tell you all you need to know. It's not difficult to figure out why this might not be a good moment for such an event.
Agreed.
This really is the cherry on top of the shite.
You think that, because we have problems, we can’t empathise with others, who have, let’s face it, much more immediate and severe ones?
Cunt of the highest order. Piss off to DeathersList, Engineer.
Babbling side thought of mine: Maybe we'll know when Pleitgen is getting worse when his son, CNN correspondent Frederik Pleitgen, leaves the war zone? As I am seeing him right now, I just wondered what's more important, his father or the war coverage?

Some people would like to post here and look at this topic to keep semi up to date about things. Not read arguments. There is a thread for that elsewhere.
There were reports before the invasion that the Russian top brass had doubts about the invasion, perhaps because they have a passing acquaintance with reality and understood that Ukraine is vast and the population not exactly enthusiastic about being bombed and turned into refugees.
Interesting how there's been no big breakout from the Donbass. The Crimean breakout has gone okay but nothing astounding. Kyiv and Kharkiv have proven tougher nuts to crack.
Economist Sir Christopher Foster, who once accused Tony Blair as the worst PM since Lord North (obviously prior to David Cameron and the current clown), dead dead dead: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/sir-christopher-foster-obituary-pq0lggbnn
I highly doubt this. Not sure why that take is getting so popular.
There are plenty of other power hungry people in Russia, taking out Putin only creates a power vacuum within a nuclear power...
The man is also getting up in age, I don't see him keeping an iron grip longer than another decade (likely less). Part of his power comes from his appearance and behavior. It is more likely he hand-picks a successor, while still making decisions behind closed doors.
