1 pointGreetings. I regularly contribute to a thread about surviving & recently dead WWII veterans at Flashback, the main Swedish discussion forum. I've been following this thread for some months, and finally decided to register at Deathlist as well. In Finland, we now in November have lost two ex-ministers who participated in World War II. Heimo Linna, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry from 1973 to 1976, died on November 14 at the age of 96 (born in 1925). In 1944-45, he took part in the Continuation War against the Soviets and the Lapland War against the Germans. During the battle of Vuosalmi, he spent nine days in his foxhole. In a skirmish at Ranua against the Germans in October he was separated from his unit, and he played dead for several hours in order to avoid enemy bullets. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heimo_Linna https://www.ksml.fi/paikalliset/2579780 https://www.verkkouutiset.fi/a/ex-ministeri-pelastuin-sodassa-nayttelemalla-valekuollutta-en-pystynyt-kertomaan-asiasta-35-vuoteen-38098/#8167afaf Ele Alenius, born in 1925, Deputy Minister of Finance between 1966 and 1970, died on November 19. During the Continuation War, he served as Second Lieutenant in the coastal artillery. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ele_Alenius Still alive is Taisto Tähkämaa, born in 1924, Minister of Defense between 1977 and 1979, and Minister of Agriculture and Forestry from 1979 to 1983. As an anti-tank gunner, he took part in the battle of Tali-Ihantala in June and July 1944, where he was wounded. He has described how the air was filled with noise and rumble, and how the roadside was dotted with smelling carcasses of dead horses. Once he saw three Soviet T-34:s approaching his post. He knew his own 37 mm cannon would not harm them, so he let them roll by. After a while, one of the tanks was hit by a shell from a Finnish 76 mm gun and stopped. The two other tanks drove off the road, but were stuck in the soft ground. Afterwards, Tähkämaa's fellow soldiers asked him if he had fired his cannon. He shook his head. You did the right thing, was their reply, otherwise you hadn't been here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taisto_Tähkämaa https://www.is.fi/suomi100/art-2000005265789.html Does anybody have information about WWII veterans among former Cabinet ministers or MEP:s in the U.S., Britain or other countries? In Norway, the last surviving member of Linge's Company / Norwegian Independent Company 1, August Rathke, died on November 25, at the age of 96. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_Independent_Company_1 https://norway.postsen.com/news/70770/The-resistance-man-August-Rathke-has-died-aged-96-The-last-Linge-soldier-has-passed-away.html

1 pointFounder of Network, Tim Beddows, has died rather suddenly aged 59. He founded the distribution company in 1997, and took to restoring classic TV and film and releasing it on DVD. If you collect any British sitcoms, 70s-80s dramas or old films, there's a high chance you'll see Network were involved in the release and cleaning of the footage. He managed to break down the rights nightmare that prevented The Professionals being released and helped restore a whole bunch of Hammer horrors. Not a household name, but he had a huge impact on British film/TV, and preserving the archives and making them readily accessible.

1 pointHere is a video from three months ago. Putin is chasing away a mosquito. One hand is working and the other is dangling. Additional drips in the arm that is not working give a darkening. Yes, there are health problems. But are they fatal? And, sorry, the level of medical care is beyond the reach of us mere mortals. However, it is worth predicting its demise in 2023. Here it is called a "scarf and snuffbox" - a reference to the circumstances surrounding the death of the Russian Emperor Paul I. Officially it will say "after a severe and prolonged illness".

1 pointIt doesn't necessarily work like that. There isn't always a "moment". Sometimes ppl start to assume another person's identity and slowly begin using the name and attributes more often as time goes on. That seems more likely to me. I mean, why this is so hard to believe? This shit still goes on in the west even today. Huge case in the UK right now. Nicholas Rossi, who was unmasked just recently: https://news.sky.com/story/nicholas-rossi-man-arrested-on-covid-ward-in-scotland-is-american-rape-suspect-who-faked-his-own-death-court-rules-12744327 And he was just seriously unlucky to get caught... (one of the nurses recognised his tattoos from an Interpol wanted picture... which is odd in itself!). I would argue that so many people don't get caught when assuming a new identity providing that they don't get sloppy or fall foul to bad luck.

1 pointHe was 102. There's no confusion. They use a different calendar system in Nepal, and they consider you to already be "one year old" from the time you're born.
