1 pointAlright, time to post a list of regrets that you’ll probably have throughout the year. Already mentioned that missing Phelan was a doh moment, and I did decide to punt that Nightbride will see 2023 rather than die this year (probably will backfire looking at teams). Will reveal the rest later…

1 pointLester Maddox died on this day 20 years ago, aged 87. - Before entering politics, Maddox was a restaurateur who opened the restaurants Lester's Grill and Pickrick Restaurant. Maddox advertised Pickrick using political cartoons featuring chickens in Atlanta newspapers. - Maddox was a notorious segregationist, stating that he would rather close his restaurant than serve Black customers after the passage of the Civil Rights Act in 1964, and also overreacted by saying that three Black people who wished to be seated were "invaders". - Maddox was elected the governor of Georgia in 1966, running on a segregationist platform- he lost the popular vote to Republican Bo Callaway, but won because no candidate received 50% of the vote and it had to be decided by the Georgia legislature. Maddox infamously denied Martin Luther King Jr.'s body to lie in state at the Georgia state capitol during his tenure. - Maddox was not allowed to serve a consecutive term, and in 1970 successfully won the nomination for Lieutenant Governor. The governor he would serve under was none other than future president Jimmy Carter, and the two often feuded due to political differences. - Maddox was known for an appearance on The Dick Cavett Show, walking off during a debate about segregation with (the late) Jim Brown. In a subsequent episode, Cavett walked off to the delight of the audience and Maddox himself. - Maddox was the presidential nominee of George Wallace's American Independent Party, running against the previously mentioned Carter. He received 170,373 votes in total (0.21% of the popular vote). - In 1977, Maddox started a musical comedy act with a Black musician named Bobby Lee Fears- their group was called "The Governor and The Dishwasher": - Despite his partnership with an African-American, Maddox would attend a KKK rally in 1987, and his last public speech was at a 2001 conference of the Council of Conservative Citizens (labeled a white supremacist group by the SPLC and ADL). - Maddox suffered from many ailments in his later years (good), such as heart and intestinal issues which required surgery, as well as prostate cancer.

1 pointThe city of Uvalde, Texas was planning former Vice President John Nance Garner’s 99th birthday celebration when Garner passed away 15 days before his birthday. Keeping good thoughts and hopes for Carter. I had the opportunity of attending President Carter’s Sunday school class in 2015 shortly after his cancer announcement. He was then already 91 and after just a few months treatment was cancer free and remained active for several years. This bodes well for Carter’s continued presence for the near future.

1 pointNot the fact she probably has a fear of being alone and every man she's been with she married, got engaged or had a child (or two) with - or all of the above. I've met Alex Reid and my cousin met Peter Andre as they shared same GP surgery. They are both half decent guys. We know she has body dysmophia as well because since the age of 18 she's had like 10 surgeries to do with her breasts. Goodness knows what other chemicals are in her blood stream.

1 point2023 January Notable: Rockabilly musician Johnny Powers died 18 days after Johnny Powers the actor. Significant: Jeff Beck. Others: Tom Verlaine, Lisa Marie Presley, Bobby Hull, David Crosby. February Notable: Fred La Marmotte, Canada’s version of the Groundhog Day groundhog, dies hours before his big prediction February 2nd. Significant: Burt Bacharach. Others: Cindy Williams, Raquel Welch, Richard Belzer, Ricou Browning, Don Shane (local news presenter) March Notable: Jack Holder, the last survivor of the USS Arizona (Pearl Harbor). Significant: (Real answer) **Dick Fosbury, (My answer) Robert Haimer (‘Fish Heads’). The world needs more Robert Haimers. Others: Wayne Shorter, Robert Blake, Otis Taylor, Fuzzy Haskins, Jerry Green (local sports journalist). **No one is going to say Fosbury. I’m not sure how anyone defines ‘significant’ if Fosbury isn’t one of the 2 or 3 most significant deaths of the entire year. However, I understand…it’s asking personally significant. Which is why I gave two winners. (Post still in progress)

1 pointI just saw Maude Apatow guest starring on RuPaul's Drag Race. So if I go ahead with the above theme team idea, I might be convinced in picking her, to pick up the torch, so to say. Also, that theme team above would have had two hits, ONJ, and Georgia Holt. I had no idea about Cherry Valentine's troubles though.

1 point15 years ago some 7-time champion Estonian weightlifter named Mati Nuude passed away. To my knowledge he's the only person who knew at birth he would be born Nuude and die Nuude. SC
