4 pointsThis Field Cannot Be Left Frank Frank Field, the Birkenhead Social Justice Party MP for Birkenhead from 2019 to 2019 – also previously known for his brief 40-year stint as a Labour MP – has died of prostate cancer at the age of 81. A small-c conservative who was repeatedly courted for a potential defection by the big-C Conservatives – a party he was a member of in his youth – Field was considered a "maverick" and "independent thinker" in the Labour Party. He advocated for the return of national service, proposed further restrictions on immigration and abortion, denounced Jeremy Corbyn as a "force for anti-Semitism in British politics", featured on the Telegraph's list of the UK's "100 most influential Right-wingers", and was personal friends with Enoch Powell and Margaret Thatcher – all the usual signifiers of a Labour MP – but also, uncharacteristically for his party, campaigned against child poverty. Thankfully, he left before Starmer had to suspend him for these extreme left-wing beliefs. Despite being the 13th least picked candidate in the Inverse Dead Pool 2024, things were on the uptick for him – he was the 11th least picked in 2023, and the least picked outright in 2022, the year after he first checked into hospice care. I look forward to writing Jimmy Carter's obit in 2026. Former Inverse champions @Bibliogryphon and @YorkshireBanker are among the few who fielded Field as a candidate, but they only risked a respective 2 and 3 points on it. Someone whose chances have been levelled by playing Field, with 15 points, is @GuyFromFuture. Frankly, I'm beginning to think you aren't really from the future at all. Much like Frank when he went for his prostate exam 10 years ago, we have movement at the bottom. With my mum's team mainly being whoever she doesn't want to die, I have an outsize influence on her picks in the short descriptions I give of people she isn't really familiar with – "Frank Field, Labour MP" got 14 points, but if I'd described him as "Frank Field, hardline Brexiteer", it'd probably be 0. So, arguably, I'm responsible for her taking back last place. You're welcome, @diego. GAINED TOTAL = 1. TQR 0 = 1. Grimgrass 0 = 1. 2 pointsYes, it doesn't count. It seems mostly copy/pasted from the legacy obit, i.e. it's a paid obituary. "Please join us in celebrating..." Btw, the Silvio Luiz obit seems a bit flimsy but I couldn't yet find any conclusive evidence that it's a simple google translate from something else, or that it's AI-generated. So for now, I assume that it's just poorly done but it counts. Still, that site seems to be the only one providing something english - and so far, not auto-translated. But I am open to objections. On the other hand.... while it was very strange that an influencer with +500.000 followers (That's not just Cup-qualifying but DDP-qualifying!) didn't receive an obit, the person behind the account, i.e. Tyler Powell, did receive a QO: https://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/2024/05/man-dies-of-injuries-after-fall-in-giraffe-enclosure-at-deer-tracks-junction.html The obit doesn't mention the social media account - but for this game it still counts, so the arghton vs. wannamaker game is basically a competition of suboptimal obits: Perhaps 0-4 GuyFromFuture arghton 4-4 wannamaker Banana 0-0 msc DevonDeathTrip 0-4 max_bossetti

Since @RoverAndOut then added 4, we should have 37 - Carly Simon - You're So Vain 19/05/24 45 David Bowie - Life on Mars? 43 Mott the Hoople - All The Young Dudes 42 America - A Horse With No Name 36 T. 2 pointsNobody does bottle episodes like Moffat! Superb. A reminder that the Doctor didn't move for 95% of the episode. Didn't realise Mundy was our new companion, interesting that RTD has let Moffat introduce her, at least this iteration. Also, I've completely missed the Susan Twist connections: who has she played in the other episodes? I'll have to have a rewatch when I get some time...

1 pointKing Lear's dogs were called Tray, Blanche and Sweetheart. There's a sentimental poem about a dog called Tray that was often recited in my mother's house when drink had been taken. The Irish Harper and His Dog

1 pointFormer PM Manmohan Singh, BJP heavyweights LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi and former VP Mohammad Hamid Ansari vote from home. Manmohan looks rough as usual, but on the other hand being able to sit is good for someone his age who was given ten years to live 15 years ago. Ansari has a blanket covering his legs. All very big names in India, I'd bet atleast two of that group will obit.

1 pointHonest answer? Racing drivers were still dying in the late 1990's. Not in F1, but around that time, we lost Gonzalo Rodriguez, Greg Moore, Jeff Krosnoff in Indycar and an host of others in other racing. Wasn't beyond the realms of possibility that the rather aggressive on-track Schumacher brothers might have had a similar fate (Of course Schumacher senior broke his leg in 1999)

1 pointHe had a brother. Disappointingly not also called John as then he'd be Mewtwo.
