Decay Um Ma Ma Ma Ask not for whom the sun chymes – it chymes for Dario G. Paul Spencer has died of rectal cancer at the age of 53. Spencer originally comprised one third of dance music outfit Dario G with two fellow DJs, Scott Rosser and Stephen Spencer (no relation). Their debut single, 'Sunchyme', based on a sample of the Dream Academy's 'Life in a Northern Town', charted at #2 in the UK – behind only 'Candle in the Wind 1997', Elton John's tribute to the late Diana Spencer (no relation). They had further hits with 'Sunmachine' (based on a sample of David Bowie's 'Memory of a Free Festival'), 'Carnaval de Paris' (based on a sample of 'Oh My Darling, Clementine'), and 'Voices' (fair play, they wrote that one). In later years, Rosser and Spencer (the other one) left the trio and Spencer (this one) became known solo under the Dario G name. Spencer G had further hits with 'Dream to Me', 'Carnaval 2002', and the repetitively-titled 'Heaven Is Closer (Feels Like Heaven)'. Fate was tempted (feels like tempting fate). In 2023, G was diagnosed with cancer where the Sun don't chyme, and became one of the top 50 picks in the Carnaval de Derby. @MalePoster and @gcreptile flew too close to the Sun, scoring 20 points apiece. Not far behind with 19 is @Thatcher – insult to injury after the fall of a Tory government. @GuyFromFuture, scoring 13, leads them into the bottom six, ahead of only my ma (ma ma). On the bright side, these big falls have enabled several scoring players – namely @En Passant (8 points), @diego (7), @Sideik (5), @livingbygrace (4), and @JoeMoneypenny (4) – to have small rises up the leaderboard. It's not often you get tagged to be congratulated on failing up. Three more players lose their perfect zero: @Grimgrass (5 points), @Toast (6), and @TQR (9). Ten players are still enjoying life in a northern leaderboard position. GAINED TOTAL = 1. wannamaker 0 = 1. arghton 0 = 1. Spade_Cooley 0 = 1. The Immortal 0 = 1. Great Uncle Bulgaria 0 = 1. I am disproportionately pleased about this. It's only a departmental name change but 'levelling up' is just an empty Tory platitude which they never delivered, indicative of their wretched 14 years in power. The majority of things I've seen since Friday have left me feeling optimistic.

Starmer already seems to have more northern born and bred MPs of working class backgrounds in his cabinet than the last three PMs did while 'levelling up' was their mantra. Actions speaking louder than words for once.

A A doozy from one of the Gbeebies idiots Angela has broken their tiny little minds. It's from a march in a support of the Terence Higgins Trust a worthy cause.

It often doesn't take that long - once people in the club talk about him being removed, a momentum builds up fast. It wouldn't surprise me now if Biden goes suddenly.

Yeah but on the downside he might decide to write some more novels

I'm the opposite. If I sleep during the day I feel woozy and knackered when I wake up.

Ludicrous hyperbole. Nobody anywhere has said anything about "Letting criminals off scott-free".

Good that Oona King is going. She was never committed in the first place. Had been on a leave of absence for about a decade. Lord MacKenzie, former TUC boss, is 84 and could be worth keeping an eye on. Archer's health seems to be fine – he's just not bothered about sitting in the Lords. Hasn't spoken in years and rarely discusses politics now.

Six players are now verified (although I am waiting for subs and one replacement from one player) I am learning a lot about The Simpsons a show which I have rarely watched. Ivor Novello awards are proving trickiest to verify as they keep changing categories and as we are discounting Outstanding Contribution Awards it can cause confusion. Three weeks left to enter but please don't all wait to the last minute as I want to get the lists up pretty quickly Can previous players and potential new players let me know if they intend to participate so I can see how many I am likely to get?

There are some things the new government are doing that I don't agree with but I feel what they are doing comes from a different place. With the outgoing Conservative Government there was a feeling of visceral hatred for some sections of the electorate

'Levelling up' phrase has been officially binned, a victory for grammar if nothing else.

That is truly fucking disgusting bile from Suella Braverman. Hate speech, pure and simple. Surely not even the Tories would stoop low enough to choose this ghastly, poisonous creature for any kind of shadow ministerial role, leave alone leader.

This is staggering. Up there with Rivers of Blood in terms of the language and hatred. Good on Dale for calling it out, this battle for the soul of the Tory Party is truly where the existential crisis comes from now. If the One Nation moderates lose, then the party is lost.
