I don't pay much attention to the news these days. I'm aware the results and its repercussions are bleak and I don't want to downplay them, but focusing on fun things instead has definitely been a mood saver. I'm going to enjoy my life, the fuckers out there want otherwise and I shant give them the satisfaction

Warren Upton's October article claims 18 living survivors, assuming the two who've died on 3 November were counted on that list it would mean 16 claimed left which seems like a realistic number to me. Hoping once we get to a low enough number (maybe 10-12) we'll get a proper documented list with names in the media, just like we had with The Few or the Merrill's Marauders.

Read an article on the BBC explaining why Trump won. Not difficult - of course you vote for the guy who offers simple solutions to complex problems. Who wants to vote for the ones who tell you it's complicated? It's a great gig too, because they're so complex that your simple solutions can't work but then it's all the other side's fault if only you give them even more power, then the simple solutions will work! Who cares that deporting millions of migrants will cost trillions of dollars? Or that it will deprive numerous American industries of their workforce? Just deport them! Who cares that the only way to end the Ukraine war is to cut off funding and let Putin have everything east of the Dnieper river (for now)? Who cares that the 2°C target is going to be obliterated when it's only your grandkids and great-grandkids who will suffer the consequences and you get cheap oil here and now? Who cares that you're going to finish that border wall you claimed you'd built 4 years ago (and Mexico paid for)? Who cares that the President is a sexist authoritarian demagogue when the other side are radical lefties (who are barely left of centre in reality)? Turkeys voting for Christmas, and the billionaires are delighted.

Today was the first day of Iceland Airwaves festival in Reykjavik. I got my money's worth by seeing 5 acts. In order of greatness: 5. GDRN (pronounced "Gudrun") at Hafnarhús Art Museum – Icelandic-language singer. The first of several gorgeous people to grace the stage. Unfortunately I was stuck behind a couple of grey-haired waterproof trouser wearers who were having a natter. Her crowdwork needs some work. 4. Une Misère at Iðnó – local metal band. It's metal. It all sounds the same to me, but I wanted to go to one metal gig. The singer was really hot and I liked it when he asked the crowd if they were enjoying Iceland (woooo!!), only for his response to be "why? It's fucking shit". There was of course a mosh pit. It stank in there. 3. Joy (Anonymous) at Iðnó – London funky house duo. Kind of the opposite of Une Misère if you think about it. Their setup consisted of some computers on a shoogly metal table. I finally managed to get close to the stage, right in front of a fat subwoofer (yes dad, I wore earplugs). I and about 30 people at the front turned into sweaty messes. 2. Ravyn Lenae at Art Museum – R&B singer from Chicago. I managed to secure a barricade spot for the first time ever!! She pointed directly at me and sang at me a few times, and I got nervous because she's one of the most stunning people I've seen in person. 1. Magdalena Bay at Art Museum – American duo with eclectic influences. I needed to pee but I was not letting go of that damn barricade. Again, why are all these artists hot‽ They played their new album Imaginal Disk from front to back and nothing else. It's one of my favourite albums of the decade and I knew every word. It was everything. They're everything. Today was one of the best days of my life.

I have barely looked at any election coverage from the USA this past year, the fact it was even competitive was demoralising enough, the prospect of the aftermath, whatever happened, was going to be awful. I've followed every election since 2004 to some extent, watched late into the night ever since until this year. There's nothing fascinating or entertaining about any of this, I would also recommend ignoring the news for the foreseeable.

While looking for Dick Medrano info, came across this tweet from a wrestling historian who says that "Cowboy" Bob Ellis is still alive and they've been in contact with his family, but is in no condition to give interviews.

Alex Trebek died on this day 4 years ago, aged 80. - Trebek started off as a radio news reporter for CBC, hosting its Music Hop segment beginning in 1963. - Trebek would move to the US in 1973 to host the game show The Wizard of Odds, which would be followed by hosting gigs on shows that included High Rollers and Battlestars. - In 1984, Trebek would begin hosting Jeopardy! (taking over from Art Fleming), hosting over 8,200 episodes over 36 years and earning eight Emmy Awards for it. He would also often guest star as fictionalized versions of himself on other shows, which included The Simpsons, Arthur, Rugrats and Family Guy: - Trebek had two minor heart attacks in 2007 and 2012, before being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March of 2019. He would battle the disease for a year and a half. His final episode of Jeopardy! aired two months after he died. - Trebek appeared on the DeathList only once, in 2020- the sixteenth of the twenty hits that year.

I have been following the news avidly and perhaps too deeply and too much for months , since the UK general election was called really. Reading the aftermath debate on here and elsewhere makes me feel it was the right decision of mine earlier this week to now distract myself by throwing myself into binges on IPLAYER and diving into the world of crumpled paper lists and old internet bookmarks trying to pick my slate of juicy unique picks for the 2025 DDP and a good mix of names for other pools. Strange as it may sound I am finding the world of potential famous people dying quite therauptic and relaxing compared to the news alternative ! For any poster feeling quite overwhelmed, worked up and anxious I recommend this past time as a sanity saver!

She made an appearance a few days ago for Jill's birthday. Voice noticeably weaker and has lost a lot of its character had to rewind to check it was her.Definitely sounds as though she isn't in a studio with the other actors and actresses in her scenes which certainly backs up the idea she has been recording from her care home.

Anyone know if Anne Wakefield is still with us? She's an actress born 1931; she had a few film and TV bit parts in the UK and later the US, playing William Hartnell's daughter in an episode of Ghost Squad and one of the nuns opposite Debbie Reynolds in The Singing Nun. Not likely to obit anywhere really.

@Imhotep It would be great if you could post it in the Deadpool Detective Thread next time, however, you asked me privately once about some of these names and I replied to you. Once again: Nyra lives in Malibu, CA and Diane lives in West Palm Beach, FL Joyce and Arlen DOB is wrong, according to the records, they were both born in 1925 (still alive at least recently, but who knows, they may have died in the last two or three years) I can't trace the others without any data

Some essential newbies for the 2025 DL... if they make it Alain Delon: Wheelchair bound, verging towards ninety in 2025, suffering from lymphoma, recovering from a severe stroke from five years ago, his family is breaking apart and he is in the middle of the Delon family fight. James Earl Jones: Will be 94 in January, has been close to 300 pounds for most of his life, has been out of the spotlight as of late, has had a history of diabetes going back to the 1990s. June Spencer: Um, she'll be 106 next June. Eva Marie Saint: Um, she'll be 101 next July. Teri Garr: Will be 80 this December, has suffered from multiple sclerosis for decades, has been too quiet.

I'm not, and I apologise if I've been snappy and such. I shouldn't let the petty stuff get the better of me, I know.
