Fucking disgusting. How do you know when a party is losing an election? When they turn to fear to try and win. Find the scariest voiceover man we can and make a load of unfounded claims about Labour. Yeah, that'll do it. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m0020b6p/party-election-broadcasts-conservative-party-03062024
RoverAndOut 4,746 Posted June 4 15 minutes ago, DCI Frank Burnside said: Now THAT'S a Party Political Broadcast. Genuinely got tears in my eyes. So much progression in so little time (relatively). Gordon Brown's list was spine-tingling. What a list of achievements. What has Rishi got to point to? And not just him, I'll let him list the achievements of Liz, Boris, Theresa and Call Me Dave too. Same Sex Marriage (improving on what Labour had already done, and would've done had they stayed in office) and the London Olympics (the success of which had nothing to do with them). Other than that: pandering to Farage leading to Brexit chaos, woeful pandemic planning (and partying in Downing Street), lying to Scotland to barely win an independence referendum, crumbling schools, crime through the roof, prisons heaving, immigration through the roof (even though they have more control over the rules than ever before), the Windrush Scandal and hostile environment, culture wars, war in Europe, a bonkers Rwanda scheme, failing to stop the boats, illegally proroguing Parliament, crashing the economy in 49 days, 57 ministers resigning from office because you remain in charge, Parliament rejecting your Brexit deal 3 times over, more than £14 billion in real terms spending cuts made permanent between 2010 and 2013. But, hey, 4 more years, yeah?

Reform will get 1 if they're lucky, Green will stay on just the 1 if they're unlucky. Of all these polls so far, it averages out that the Tories will probably be at around 100-110. But it's alright, because Sunak is about to save the day for them on ITV right now.

YoungWillz 21,033 Posted June 4 Starmer needs to say what he is going to do. He keeps dancing round and looking at the record. First time he's given a policy is 20 minutes in. Sunak - he makes me laugh.

YoungWillz 21,033 Posted June 4 Sunak has just said he doesn't believe Labour can be trusted with the security of the country. I love the way he lies. Surely nobody believes that. Absolute 4th form debating from Sunak.
TQR 14,386 Posted June 4 Sunak is tetchy, rude and dishonest. Starmer is meandering and frustratingly calm. He's coming good now, but it's a slow burner.
Steve 596 Posted June 4 Been watching Sunak v Starmer and I have to say none of these clowns deserve to be Prime Minister. I am a staunch socialist. Starmer seems as though he his trying to seek the support of Middle England voters whilst Sunak is a far right international law breaker.

YoungWillz 21,033 Posted June 4 Well, lots to think about. Obviously things like health, housing, student debt etc all solely English matters are they are devolved elsewhere. You've got it much much worse, imo. I see neither as the answer, but sticking with the party that brought you Partygate, tractor porn, COVID fraud, sewage filled rivers and beaches, leaking schools and hospitals, closure of local public services, Afghan betrayal (save the animals first!), NI discontent, housing shortages, high inflation and legal immigration - need I go on? Yeah, definitely the way to go. A promise from Sunak is a promise you can't rely on. And that is why he will lose.
ladyfiona 2,577 Posted June 4 I feel Starmer didn't get a chance to speak properly because either Rishi or the host was not giving him a chance to.
An Fear Beag 1,535 Posted June 4 13 minutes ago, Steve said: Starmer seems as though he his trying to seek the support of Middle England voters Good on him - that's exactly what he needs to do to get elected. I understand why Starmer is a disappointment to staunch socialists like yourself. But the reality is that he is mostly doing the right things. At this point, all he has to do to get elected is a. Not be the Tories b. Not say or do anything that will frighten the middle class voters who decide elections. You may well prefer a more left-wing Corbyn type leader. But the British public don't, and any time they have been offered that in the past, they have completely rejected it. So if Starmer has any sense (and it seems like he does), then he will play it bland, and give the Conservatives nothing to attack him with. That will be enough to romp home with a large majority. It might not be enough to get him re-elected, but that's a problem for another day
Brad252 807 Posted June 4 Farage wasn't covered in milkshake earlier, that was actually cream for treating thrush. Like thrush, Farage is unpleasant and keeps coming back.

Thatcher 2,392 Posted June 4 The format was dreadful. Need to remove the audience and focus on 3 policy areas, or if you want to focus on 5-6 needs to be at least 1h30-2h, but nobody honestly wants that. Did Starmer actually give a direct answer? Besides confirming that given a choice he’d choose for his family to die. He was given plenty of opportunities to reject the £2000 additional tax assertion, and only at the 16th time of asking did he tiptoe around the edges to say it wasn’t the case. Why not just put it to bed at the first time of asking? Neither fit to hold the office.
