gcreptile 10,939 Posted July 5 Looks to me like Labour really got the most out of what they could possibly get within these rules and this world. If this was done with proportional representation Labour would probably lead a LAB-LIB government. Their absolute vote was overestimated in the polls and doesn't compare to Blair's victories. So Starmer has a giant mandate that he will have to use to shape his party to a future when Labour isn't the default choice. I now get why Corbyn's Labour was regarded as weak on anti-semitism, and why he was wishy-washy on Brexit. He was trying to keep his extremely diverse coaltion together. Starmer will have this problem, too. On the other hand, the Reform/Tory conflict wont go away. It'll be Civil War over there. The Old Crem 3,576 Posted July 5 Harrow East is now the Tories safest seat. The Hindu vote is now the strongest voter demographic for the Tories as Reform failed to appeal at all.
