1. Jimmy Carter

I can see Trump and Obama quite easily becoming nonagenarians but reaching Jimmy's age would be very difficult.

If someone reaches Jimmy's age he would very likely become first centenarian president of the USA too

Not so sure about Trump, to put it politely. I could easily see Obama and Bush making it well past 90 though.

He seems strong and active considering his age and his father lived to 93.

Also his maternal grandmother lived to 96.Also his mother was 88 which was pretty impressive considering she almost got killed after being mugged at 79 causing a brain haemorrhage and permanent damage.

Now can we say Carter's time under hospice care is unusually long?

Less than 48 hours and it will be May.  No US President has ever died in the month of May.

Obama's smoking makes me HEAVILY doubtful. Didn't he smoke a pack a day for a bit?

Since he’s been in hospice, Jimmy has outlived Betty Boothroyd, Paul O’Grady, Nigel Lawson, Mary Quant, Barry Humphries, Harry Belafonte, Len Goodman, Jerry Springer, a member of The Script, a handful of gay pornstars and the bloke from S Club 7.

Long may he reign!

And Richard Riordan the former Mayor of Los Angeles.  Jerry Springer was also briefly the Mayor of Cincinnati.

And...five of drol's immortals listers? Ali Yafie (25 Feb), Ignacio Lopez Tarso (11 Mar), Wan Haifeng (31 Mar), Tu Tongjin (3 Apr) and Parkash Singh Badal (25 Apr). At this point I feel like he'll outlive a few more.

They only go when you're absolutely positive they're immortal, so Jimmy can't have long left.

There was that case in the UK 13 years ago, a woman called Winnie Langley, who died just a month shy of 103. She was a smoker, but never inhaled, thus I don't think you can count that.

So yes, aged 99, Jeanne Calment was probably the closest a regular smoker has come to reaching their centenary.

Spoiler

I never buy the not inhaling argument for regular smokers as surely that`s how they got chemically addicted. Even if hypothetically you didn`t inhale from the cigarette it would still pollute the air and be even worse than passive smoking due to how near it is to you.

I thought Jeanne Calment quit smoking when she was 117 or thereabouts.

His two parents, his paternal grandmother and five of his uncles/aunts were nonagenarians, so yes the odds are in his favor.

Agreed, he'll defo live longer than Trump. Trump's unhealthy lifestyle will catch up to him one day.

They may well have been older ones never identified.

On the other hand, Trump has been a teetotal and doesn’t smoke since he was 30, because (or thanks) to his brother premature death due to alcoholism, so he might be nonagerian despite his junk food habit

Smoking and unhealthy eating habits are both just as lethal statistically. I dont doubt theres a chance he could live up to his 90s, like his dad did, but I personally dont think its likely.

His family history makes it a lot more likely than we think...
