I believe that he was the producer when Jimmy Saville used to do "Pick of the pops" ( Now done by Tony Blackburn) on Radio 2. He always referred to him as "Uncle Ted." Ive no doubt that King was also up to no good around that time but it would be speculation to say that they were "working together" at that time.
