Plus it means I can usually find at least one Pointless answer if it's a category I know something about. Nothing more annoying than watching two guys on screen blankly staring at Alexander Armstrong while you're shouting "George Burley you fucking idiots" over and over.

He's certainly got form. Funny how Thatcher died instantly last year but Sharon has taken the best part of a decade. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Never got the joy of being proud that you're ignorant of anything, tbh. I mean, I have fuck all interest in, say, the politics of Central America or professional squash or modern country music, but I still know who Daniel Ortega, Jahangir Khan and Jason Aldean are.

On January 7, 1992, Muppets-puppeteer Richard Hunt died of AIDS related complications, aged 40. He was the performer of my favorite Muppet, Janice, and he also performed great characters as Scooter, Beaker, Statler, Sweetums and many others.

Deadpoolers today who sit on their computers all day googling new celebrities to appear smarter, I ask yer? Actually I better not, since, I'm fairly sure you won't know!

My daughter has told me that a married celebrity who is a household name is, infact, gay. The source for this rumour is pretty good by all accounts. That was something i didnt know this morning!

My impression seems to be that about 70% of the userbase here are British (or other European) civil servants or civil-servant types. If they're not they do a damn good job of seeming like them. Ok I may be totally wrong there. But if I am correct, I can only agree with your last line wholeheartedly - they really need to get on with doing something useful! Apart from that, fuck off you tedious ponce. I disgusted by Dr Zorders reply. Really, there should be a comma between 'civil servants' and 'or civil servant types' and the single dash at the end of the following sentence might have been usefully replaced by a full stop and turning the final clause into a full sentence beginning with an upper case T.

Knoxville looks like a virginal middle-aged man dressing up as Harry Potter for one of those nerd conventions. I think as the years go by it's gonna be harder and harder to tell which one is Knoxville and which one is that guy from Blink 182.

No, I'm actually being serious. Several of these people are not familiar to me, and they are not household names in Sweden. Or anyhere outside of Uk. Is this really an issue? Well, anyways, I think longterm, which means that my knowledge of things keeps growing for every day. I'm only 20. No need to get all worked up and question my education that I work hard for at college level. Thanks! I am in Stockholm Arlanda airport now and i am willing to bet you on a beer that i can find a Terry Pratchett book in a bookstore here.... (they must sell them, they sell them in practically every dutch bookstore)

Run Run Shaw has died, which mean I've extremely uncharacteristically scored some points in this game.

Of the fifty, only Shaw Taylor and Ed Asner were names I didn't know. Taylor was a character well before my time, but Asner was certainly a 'knew the voice if not the name' actor. I like the quasi-educational remit of Deathlist though. Sometimes it brings monsters like Priebke to your attention, but there's many others I'd have completely missed out on through gaps in my knowledge if not for this site. (George Melly springs to mind from years ago.)

I was surprised not to see the General make a return and thought that Liz Dawn and Tony Benn would have been good picks. Not too sure about the inclusion of P D James and Terry Pratchett but I was one of the neigh sayers who though Peter O' Toole was a bad pick last year. I think that we should be comfortably in the 10-12 region with this group.
