Just wanted to wish everybody a happy Easter. Before anybody complains and RUINS THE HOLIDAY FOR EVERYBODY, I just wanted to point out we do have threads for a bajillion other holidays.

Emma Morano, last person left born in the 1800s and oldest living person at the time of her death (I think I worded that wrong) has died aged 117. She was born in 1899. Now the oldest living person is Jamaican Violet Brown aged 117 but born March 10th 1900. So, not long back from watching Spurs shit all over Bournemouth. Bournemouth are not at all shabby but Spurs are seriously good now. Its got me thinking a bit, primarily about the age old argument about 'REAL' football ( grass roots, Pies and warm beer)and I have come to the simple conclusion that there is no such thing. When I was 6 my mum took me for a long walk, on a beautiful summers day, up to the North Circular and onto a new Gulf filling Station forecourt. It was there I was to meet my football idol, Martin Chivers, who was officially opening the Petrol Station. With brand new autograph book in hand, and a freshly stuck picture of Mr Chivers ( from a bubblegum card) on it, I awaited his arrival like fucking Royalty or summat. Soon a vision of beauty came into view, a beautiful Opel Rekord convertible, in silver with the most beautifully red leather seats, drove onto the forecourt by the man himself. I can still remember to this day his kind comment at the pic in my book and the feeling of excitement and wonderment I felt seeing him so close. That feeling of excitement never went away as far as Football was concerned, If my back hadnt been fucked Id have carried on playing the game beyond the age of 38, the age I finally had to admit defeat. That excitement is STILL there, still alive on matchday and I really couldnt give a rats shit whether Dele Alli earns more in a week than I can earn in two years because when he is out there ( ditto for all the other players ) Im still in love with the game and with Spurs and Im still like that little boy when we score/win/lose and everything in between. There is no such thing as 'Real' football because the only thing that matters are the REAL fans of the greatest sport on Earth. So there!

I'm with Shaun on this one. The media always reports on unverified super-centenarians as if they were really the age they claim to be. Every once in a while, whether it's a tabloid, or a respected institution like the BBC, there is a story out about an 145-year-old from the jungles of Zimbabwe or Indonesia or wherever the fuck, and they never bother to mention that the age is unverified and the person is a big, fat liar.

No, it won't even reach the Billboard top 100, I think.

I've been feeling crap for weeks, so I don't really care. It's unlikely to be anything terminal and no, I'm not obitable if it is.

It is so difficult to predict her case because we don`t know the specific type of lung cancer she has and where else it is now.Also, she is incredibly vague when she talks about it that you do have to read between the lines.Errol Christie is an outlier for having stage 4 lung cancer as he has made the two year mark.That said he is incredibly fit otherwise and has been able to receive chemo meaning he might last a bit longer.His nephew said he had a year to live last June.Downie again is getting towards being an outlier as he has passed the 15-month average lifespan for glioblastoma but did have surgery and treatment that has had effect.The issue with glioblastoma is even when treated fairly successfully it flares up again with a vengeance.Bracknell however from what she has said has very limited treatment options whereas the other two seemingly don`t.All 3 will in all likelihood go this year I still think.Very sad as they all seem like nice people and dying in your early 50`s is pretty tragic in this day and age.Still dead pooling is a measurement of probabilities, not a wish list.

Im going to watch Spurs tomorrow so WW3 can go fuck itself.

It is nice to see people sticking to gramatically correct language.It does seem a rarity these days! Leahs overt positivity makes me think of my Dad who lost a very close friend a couple of weeks ago.He was so incredibly positive and came round my parents house less than a week before he died and he was so full of joie de vivre and optimism that it has really knocked Dad.When I found out the nature of his cancer though I knew from amateur dead pooling that it was absolutely dire and that he was near death.I think the airy fairy optimism makes the limited time of the individual more profound and joyful but when they inevitably go it makes it hard for those close around to reconcile with.As I said to Dad though the fact he was optimistic and in such good spirits when you last saw him means that the sadness and fear at least wasnt shared and that he lived his last days feeling fantastic allbeit brought on by a degree of delusion.
