Many of you curmudgeons may have noticed that it's that time of year when the godawful British media report A-level results day with a deliberate focus on the high-achievers in an attempt to make the average student feel like dirt. Well, whilst I'm not one of those high-achievers, I'm pleased to say that I did get into my university of choice, that is the University of Stirling, and will be studying Philosophy there over the course of the next four years. In the meantime, I can celebrate the opportunity of leaving my dull and uninspired life behind and making some friends and enjoying myself for a change.

My original thought was no. On second thought, however, I think he can. But I don't think he'll last more than a month afterwards. I've had this feeling for a while now that Bush Sr is 2017's Nelson Mandela: he's known to be ill before 2017, he's going to be hospitalized a lot this year (he's already been hospitalized 3 times?), but he'll eventually keel over in early December. I guess the only thing that's different is that it isn't life threatening yet unlike Mandela...

Jan 31st still up for grabs, then I'll take it Fair play to the oldster, mind - his statement with his son yesterday amounted to a more presidential act than Trump has managed in months

He is currently living in Switzerland. So it could be any currency but it won't be traceable.

John II Megas Komnenos (John II of Trebizond) died 720 years ago, age (approx) 35. I was intrigued by the 'of Trebizond', having never heard of Trebizond, and now I learned me sumptin. It's in the region of modern day Turkey. SC

When I was a kid in inner-city Chicago, the schoolyear at Chicago Public Schools was always from early September to mid-June. Now that I'm a high schooler in the Chicago suburbs, we start school in mid-August (tomorrow's my first day) and we end in May. More and more school districts nationwide are making the switch to the August-May version, so that the end of the first semester (final exams) coincides with the start of Christmas break. Personally, I'd much rather suck it up and take finals at the end of January with lost knowledge over the festive period and no break afterwards, as long as it means I don't have to start school in the middle of motherfucking August.

Well, jeez, Shaun, you'd probably get a different list off Spade or Chorizo, but imo, the greatest living retired wrestlers over the age of 60 are: 1931 – Dick "The Destroyer" Beyer, 1935 – Bruno Sammartino 1940 – The Iron Sheik, Adrian Street, 1941 – Abdullah the Butcher (has Hep B), Pat Patterson, Dory Funk Jr 1942 – Pedro Morales, Johnny Saint, Ole Anderson, Mean Gene Okerlund 1943 – Antonio Inoki, Harley Race, Superstar Billy Graham 1944 – Jimmy Hart, Terry Funk, Rocky Johnson, Bobby Heenan, 1945 – Vince McMahon 1946 – Gerry Brisco, Kendo Nagasaki 1949 –Ric Flair, Jerry Lawler, Bob Backlund, Stan Hansen, Don Muraco, Paul Orndorff (said to be in very poor health now) 1950 – Greg Valentine 1951 – Jesse Ventura 1952 – Puppy Killing Jim Ross 1953 – Ricky Steamboat, Hulk Hogan 1954 – Ted Dibiase 1955 –,Vader, Jake "the Snake" Roberts 1956– DDP 1957 – Bret Hart Flair's widely considered the Greatest Of All Time, though I'd argue Terry Funk. Lawler's also a massive legend (ever seen the film Man on the Moon? If not, you should) and also no sold dying a few years ago, brought back after massive heart attack, refers to himself as the world's best zombie. All would get QO obits these days.
