I've had an idea about a potential radio show: "Celebrities Make Jam With DDT". Basically, the format will be to find two celebrities - it doesn't really matter who - who then spend the next forty eight hours with me, without sleep, in a non stop session making industrial amounts of jam. The highlights could then be condensed into a one hour show. My thoughts were that as the celebrity gets more exhausted, they are likely to become delirious and start spouting all sorts of nonsense, which might do wonders for their public profile. In addition, the celebrities' increasing fatigue will enhance the risk of them sustaining burns or other injuries as they struggle to handle the boiling vats of sugar and fruit, which would make for great listening. The winner will be the contestant who produces the most consistently high quality of jam. As a prize, they can take the jam home with them. For the pilot episode, I was thinking of inviting Taylor Swift and Nigel Farage to participate. I quite like the idea of seeing how 'nice' Taylor would be as I asked how she really felt about Jay Z when she's gone nearly two days without sleep and is struggling to stir a massive amount of bramble jelly mix in a stifling hot kitchen. Similarly, I feel that an equally tired Nigel would reveal his true self and scream at me to fuck off when I started to ask him about his near lethal plane crash, just at the point where he's trying to decant his latest batch of boiling liquid into sterilised jars. Radio gold. It might be that some celebrities would turn down the opportunity to take part, but such is the need for media exposure these days, that there's bound to be hordes of willing participants desperate to get on the show. I just thought I'd post my idea here, as if a similar programme ever starts, I want it on record that I thought of it first.

So, in AP English, I have to read a non-fiction book every quarter and do a book presentation on it at the end of the quarter, and she has a list of non-fiction reads that she recommends (though any book will do). Among the authors on the list are deathlist alumni Stephen Hawking and Robert M Pirsig and the girlfriend of the potentially decisive DDP pick Rayya Elias, Elizabeth Gilbert...

That was two elections ago now. No Galloway at the last election, and her majority shot upwards (which was well after her first bout of controversies). Suggests the sorry voters of Bradford West like her. And it's not possible to be as bad as George Galloway. Even the likes of Nicholas Soames look good when compared to Rula's cat.

Can't help but feel sorry for those voters in Bradford West who voted for Shah tactically to get rid of Galloway and ended up with someone as equally repugnant.

Sir Creep's insistence on picking people he has no idea about the fame of is one of the DDP's weirdest quirks. Still reeling from his "Sir Colin Meads might not obit" angle.

Ricketts will piss an obit, it's just he's almost certainly a late 2018/early 2019 pick at this point. As for Rico, wrestlers, eh? When they go "I am ill", skeptical. It's when others guy "X is ill" one pays attention. So, Superstar says he is ill, and has since 2010. The doctors said Snuka was ill. Yet I still thought he was taking the piss. Shows what I know! I've never picked a winning wrestler, even when I knew they're gold, like Smith Hart, or Mulligan. That Nick Bockwinkel not getting an obit really astounded me.

Hate to be the one pointing out a technicality, but he could also just not run at the next election. Roosevelt had 3 different vice presidents (Garner, Wallace, Truman) and neither of the first two resigned during their terms, they just didn't get renominated for various reasons. (Garner even [unsuccessfully] sought nomination as a presidential candidate in 1940.) Trump could try to get someone else nominated as a running mate in 2020, but I guess he'd even have some trouble getting renominated (and avoid getting impeached) before that. But even so, Ivanka could be an obvious choice to bolster Trump's chances with the female, Jewish and young voters.

Legally speaking, he can't Pence is elected, not appointed like the rest of them. There are four obvious routes out of the job. He could be impeached, resign, become president or lose at the next election. Route five; death, might be our business here but Pence is showing no signs of obliging us, yet.

Aye, but the main prize surely would be a Dickie O sighting. Apart from owt else it'd give us the first legitimate reason in about ten years to post on his thread.

Swedish journalist Kim Wall, missing since August 11 after boarding a privately built submarine, died in an accident and was buried at sea, the vessel's owner Peter Madsen told a court hearing in Denmark. Madsen, who has been charged with manslaughter, told a closed-door court hearing that he buried Wall at sea in an "unspecified place" in Køge Bay, according to a statement published by Copenhagen City Council on Monday. Wall, 30, was on the Nautilus for a story she was writing on Madsen and the 17-meter submarine. SC

Never thought I'd post in this silly thread. Let's break the cherry. KISS frontman Gene Simmons is thrilled by a newborn calf born with strikingly similar black-and-white markings to the face paint he wears on stage. Simmons tweeted his admiration for the calf on Sunday, saying, "This is real, folks!!!" The calf was born on Friday at a ranch near Kerrville in Texas, which is about 96 kilometres north-west of San Antonio. (Note: I have to drive through Kerrville on the way home from the oil rig -- maybe I'll stop and get a photo!) SC
