Any chance of keeping this thread to deaths/illness rather than predictions?

Bob Weighton has officially been validated as the world's oldest living man by the Guinness Book of World Records. Congrats! (This marks the first time a British person has held this title since Henry Allingham in 2009.)

If I could at least maintain this until my next thousand, I’ll be an oddly and tragically satisfied man.

Yeah it must be serious - surprised we're not hearing more about it on the news.

Very drol! My blood pressure's been far better since I stopped watching the news, Newsnight, Question Time, etc etc.

True. Also he apparently was able to move from ICU to a normal ward, which is hopefully a good sign. You may like or dislike the guys politics, but he is a hell of a talented writer for kids.

First check that the cat is fine, then think about me and do two fantastic things: reading and drinking

I couldn't get any bread in the supermarket today so I went to the park and threw I.O.U's to the ducks.

John Haselden has died of dementia complications. Haselden was a player for Rotherham, Doncaster and Mansfield but is better remembered by both Huddersfield and Reading for his work as a coach, physio and caretaker manager. The news report focuses on Huddersfield but he spent eight years at Reading during some of our best times at the old Elm Park. https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/football/news/john-haselden-tributes-huddersfield-town-18011388

Other than the current year choice, Prince Philip, Wilko holds the distinction of being the only surviving number one pick. Kudos.

Paul Chuckle (who is 72) was on the news earlier saying he had been bed bound with symptoms but is now “on the mend”.

There was a 90% chance he would have survived.

Children's book author and illustrator, Tomie DePaola, has sadly passed away at the age of 85 due to complications from a fall. https://www.npr.org/2020/03/30/824244076/tomie-depaola-beloved-childrens-author-and-illustrator-has-died I remember reading many of his books as a child including Strega Nona as well as his appearances on the 'Barney & Friends' television show. A sad day indeed.

Probably all those in-the-middle-of-nowhere in Asia, South America or Africa living folks who claim to be 120-150 but dont look a day over 90

I think you meant Grimar Wormtongue with that last one

Hah most of my prospective team died this week by the feel of it. Meanwhile Sir Creep is somewhere about to reach for his phone: "Hello, Hospice Owner in Louisiana, this is Sir Creep. Yes, I am fine thanks. OK, who got the last rites this weekend? Thank you, I'm noting them down. Me? No I'm facing msc. Hahah yes, very droll, it is like a bye. Right, thanks for the team, 30 points guaranteed. Oh yes, certainly, give an autographed Sir Creep photo to any of my team who want one."

Lets be frank, even to diehard stiff chasers the thought of coronavirus is off putting. There's a few dozen people I'd happily (fantasise about) smothering with a cushion in the dead of night while singing 'burn baby burn' but I wouldn't wish coronavirus on them.

I think I'm almost happy that I won't be moving on in this one. Sounds like a buttload of research will be needed, and the flavor of the game has certainly changed. Congratulations Jiroemon, a very solid win for you this round. Wishing you continued good fortune.

Paul from the Chuckle Brothers bumped into me in Asda earlier. I said "Oi, two metre you!"

He had a high fever and pneumonia, was in the intensive care unit, but is now on the mend and is no longer in danger, it's said.

Cleared out some kitchen cupboards and drawers which created some space once I'd chucked out all the really ancient stuff. That felt good! Been tidying up in the garden. It's the kind of thing I'd do at this time of year anyway, get rid of the winter crud. Ordered some seeds. Makes sense to grow some more veg. Walks with the dog. Lots of huuuugely pregnant ewes in the field beyond my garden, so looking forward to seeing lambs soon. Maybe rustle one

Oh fuck - I mean, lots of what we do here is tasteless
