2 pointsI watched Atlantic Crossing and decided to read a bit about the characters. King Harald V had two sisters: Ragnhild (1930-2012) and Astrid (born 1932) who is going to be 89 in february. Ragnhild's widower, industrialist Erling Lorentzen is still alive and will be 98 on the 28th of this month. He is still in good shape. Died 9th March 2021

1 pointThe trouble is that they are the kind of people that put themselves forward for election in the first place so it ends up being them that rise to the top as all the 'good' candidates are off someplace doing 'good' work and don't have enough time to dedicate to getting elected to high office.

1 pointA poll simulating the French Presidential Election due next year puts Marine Le Pen in the lead. Do they not see from the UK, Brazil and the last 4 years in the US that having a bigoted, idiotic, fascist lunatic as your leader tends to turn your country to shit? (Not saying that Macron isn’t a twat btw; he is.)

1 pointI am well aware that I need to catch up on the remaining 6 obituaries from last year, but unfortunately my wellbeing still isn't that great. However, I will try to keep up with the current year's list and hopefully not have a backlog like last year.

1 pointLARRY KING DEAD, ONLY ON CNN* 1/50 23rd January 2021 Talk host legend Larry King has died at 87 to bring its first score to the crowdsource list. He began his career back in 1957 for a local Miami station, and went through various gigs in that time frame. From conducting an interview with Bobby Darin to being a color commentator for the Miami Dolphins he slowly began to rise in the ranks in local TV, although his career was briefly in jeopardy when he was accused of grand larceny. Eventually, he began his show Larry King Live in 1985. The topics that he covered was really wide topics including UFO conspiracy theorists to interviews with celebrities and politicians. Perhaps his most important interview was when Ross Perot announced his candidacy for President in 1992, which lead to the most successful run of a third party run since John B Anderson, ie absolute garbage. He quit doing Larry King Live in 2010, where he was unfortunately replaced by twat Piers Morgan. Outside of his talk show appearances he was known for his seven wives, which made him a male version of Elizabeth Taylor. He also made an appearance in WWE Raw in 2012, and had the pleasure of taking a four minute phone call during Dave Rubin's live show. In recent years, his health became a major focus on his life. First he faced a cancer bout in 2017, and then went into a coma for a few weeks. However, it was COVID that seemingly ended it for him (although the cause of death is not officially confirmed despite the likeliness of what caused it). Really, how the fuck did the committee not bring him onto their list? This was his second appearance on the crowdsourced list, jumping all the way to 12th on the list. *tribute to a DDP team sadly no longer playing

1 pointDo you have to be a cunt to me because I don’t see eye to eye with you on this? I’m not downplaying anything. It’s a deadly disease IF you’re over a certain age or if you have other morbidities. It’s a flu for everyone else. I stress, again: 388 people under 60 with no underlying health conditions have died from it in 12 months in the U.K. About 1600 people in that age bracket die in road accidents over a 12 month period. Should we permanently close the roads?
-
1 pointWhat it shows is that there are always genetic outliers, nothing more. The number of people under 60 with no underlying health conditions who have died from COVID-19 in the UK is only 388 (as of 27th December 2020). That's across 12 months and millions of people within that age bracket. Once they knew the risk factors associated with morbidities i.e. age, cancers, type 1 diabetes, obesity, all those who were vulnerable should have practiced shielding, whilst the rest of us got on with our lives. These repeated lockdowns are far more devastating long term. According to the Centre for Economics and Business Research, lockdown is costing the UK economy £2.4 billion per day. It's utter madness. In 20 years time we will look back at this and acknowledge we heavily overreacted.
