    tbh I've enjoyed most of the games, except Lyndon Dykes pretending to be a footballer and that siesta Spain put us through. Oh and Christian Eriksen nearly dying of course. Feels like a step up from the last Euros. Also, I've missed hearing thousands of fans in a stadium all booing a referee!

    Ella Fitzgerald, the immensely popular American jazz and song vocalist known as "Lady Ella" and the "First Lady of Song", died at her home in Beverly Hills from a stroke on this date in 1996. She was 79 years old. During a five-decade career, Fitzgerald won 13 Grammy Awards. In her lifetime, she recorded 250 albums and some 2000 songs. She sold over 40 million albums. "Lady Ella" was virtually bedridden with complications of diabetes. With her diabetes worsening, Fitzgerald experienced severe circulatory problems, and had to have both legs amputated below the knees. She never fully recovered from the surgery and was rarely able to perform. Ella Fitzgerald was interred in the Sunset Mission Mausoleum at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California.

    Tony Randall, the American actor, comedian and singer, died on this date in 2004. He was 84 years old. Randall, fondly remembered for his role as Felix Unger in a television adaptation of the 1965 play "The Odd Couple" by Neil Simon for which he won an Emmy Award, appeared in many films, including "Pillow Talk" (1959), "Lover Come Back" (1961) or "Send Me No Flowers" (1964). He said: "Marilyn Monroe was no fun to work with. She would report to work around 5:00 in the evening. You've been in make-up since 8:30 in the morning waiting for her". Tony Randall died in his sleep at NYU Medical Center of pneumonia that he had contracted following coronary bypass surgery. He was interred at Westchester Hills Cemetery in New York.

He was 64 years old. Sammy Davis Jr. was one of the greatest pop-culture icons of the 20th century. His nickname was "Mr. Show Business". Sammy Davis Jr. was a chain smoker (four packs of cigarettes a day). When he died, he was in debt. To pay for Sammy's funeral, most of his memorabilia was sold off. Sammy Davis Jr. was interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. He was survived by his mother (who died at 95) and his grandmother (who died at 112).
