He needs to slow down his speech back to his Georgian drawl, he's hard to understand in some parts. They look their age, but they look great.

Apparently former Uriah Heep singer John Lawton was part of the 1976 Eurovision entry for Germany, the Les Humphries Singers. Lawton reportedly died at the end of last month: https://blabbermouth.net/news/former-uriah-heep-singer-john-lawton-dead-at-74/ I'll go out on a limb here and suggest he's far right in this clip from the Contest - not Germany's finest hour, but I think they were jumping on the previous winner from Netherlands: Edit: Comments in YT suggest the guy in blue in the clip is John Lawton. Well, I had a 25 per cent chance of guessing right.

I've just had a thorough look through Google Books, Twitter, Facebook, Ancestry and Newspapers.com. Not only did I not find the answer, I barely found a single mention of him. Possible he died off radar, but could very well be alive at 97. Given he served twice in the post and as "recent" as 1989, you'd expect at least one mention of his death to surface. If you really want the answer to this one, the only option you have left is to drop an email to the San Marino authorities i.e. your local embassy or through the San Marino Gov website. Someone will look into it and give you an answer.

Can't find a better source yet but someone on Facebook posted that William S. Anderson (wiki), or Bill Anderson as he is better known, has died aged 101. Chinese-born British businessman, the President of NCR from 1972 to 1984, and a POW during World War II. The post is long so here it is in a spoiler:

Leo van de Ketterij (wiki), guitarist for Dutch rock band Shocking Blue, dead at 70. Didn't play on either of their UK hits, i.e. Venus or Mighty Joe, but his death means just one of the five principal members of the group is still alive. That being Robbie van Leeuwen (wiki), who is 77 in October.

Louis Armstrong, one of the greatest musicians in jazz history who recorded hit songs for five decades, passed away in his sleep at his home in the Corona section of Queens, New York on this date in 1971. Death was attributed to a heart attack. He was 69 years old. Eleven of his recordings have been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Armstrong was buried in Flushing Cemetery in Queens, New York, just a few miles away from his home in Corona. His grave is simple, engraved with nothing more than his name, Louis Armstrong and the nickname "Satchmo" in quotes. Louis Armstrong was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

Not to pile on, but I will also claim a nice score for Rick Laird. Only two months in and I already have half the hits (4) and more than half the points (1000) I got in all of last years game. (It doesn't take much to keep me happy.)

Yes, I can remember two hits in a single day. Robin Gibb (Bee Gees) and the Lockerbie-Bomber Al-Megrahi (both on the list in 2012) died on the same day.

I had my first hit on January 21st last year (Terry Jones). At the end of the year my shadow-list reached 22 hits. So far...everything is okay at the moment. Btw you cant set a new record every year, that becomes impossible at some point and the benchmark from last year (20 hits) is already very high. so I think 15 hits should be realistic and reachable for this year.
