I’ve been racking my brains trying to think of where I knew his face from, but yes, it’s Only Fools! The one where in the housing meeting he appoints Rodney Vice Chair and then resigns immediately

A girl in my history class didn't know who Margaret Thatcher was and cheated in an exam and got zero.Lovely girl but thick as pigs shit. The amount of people who confused Prince Charles with Prince Philip when he was alive surprised me. Best one I ever heard was a girl in my GCSE English class asking "Miss how come you never see Shakespeare on TV he isn't dead is he?"

Before I get to totting up the scores for the 6(?) hits so far, I wanted to address the issue of the bonuses in this pool. From what I can see from previous editions of this pool, there seems to be a major point of contention between players and the game runner regarding the hidden bonuses. On the one hand, players (understandably) feel that the hidden bonuses should be revealed at some point, be that after the entries are submitted, as the game progresses, or at least once the game is over. It is a bit daft to have a winner, but for no-one except the host to know why they had won. On the other hand, the hidden bonuses have been an integral part of this pool since it was first established, and I am of the opinion that they need to be retained to keep the unique character of the pool. If the bonuses are revealed, then they are no longer hidden for the following years edition of the pool, allowing players to make their picks based on the previous years bonuses. To solve this dilemma, I have divided the bonuses into two separate groups (there are a lot of bonuses in this game!) 1. PERMANENT BONUSES These bonuses will remain mostly constant from year to year (there will be some minor tweaks and possibly additions to make the game fairer and more interesting, but not many). They will be posted at the start of the game, and thus seen by all players before their team is selected. Most of them were already posted at the start of this years game. Others were hidden bonuses but now become part of the permanent rules. With the exception of the first three, they are bonuses which should not affect a players selection of their team. The permanent bonuses for 2022 are as follows: PERMANENT BONUSES 1. + 3 pts if pick is a unique pick in DDP 2. +2 pts if pick is a Drop 40 pick in DDP 3. +3 pts if pick is a solo pick in this pool 4. +5 if they die on their birthday 5. + 2 if they die on the 13th of the month 6. +5 if they die on 28th April (cannot reveal why, although others may wish to do so) 7. +5 if they die on St Andrew's Day (30th November). 8. +3 pts for an unnatural death 9. +5 if a player gets 2 hits in one day +10 if a player gets 3 or more hits in one day 10. +2 if they are the first hit in the game. +3 if they are the last hit in the game. 11. +1 for ending the longest gap between hits (+1 each time this happens). 12. +1 for every person they guess in order from the first until they break the combo (+1 cumulatively each time this happens) [i.e. if #7 is their first hit they get 1 base point, if #19 is their 2nd hit they get 2 points, if #31 is their 3rd hit they get 3 points, but if #17 is their 4th hit then they're no longer eligible for this bonus] 13. -2 for the most hits in the pool. 14. +10 if they were in last place on 31/12, this bonus possibly making someone else last, which in that case the new last place person stays last 15. -5 if they were originally in 13th place at the end (same with last, the new 13th will stay 13th) 16. +1 for hits at certain spots on your list. Which spots they are, however, are hidden until they are scored. 2. HIDDEN BONUSES The remaining 18(!!) bonuses are hidden bonuses. Some may be revealed during the game, but they will all definitely be revealed after the game has ended. They will change every year, so no-one can select picks based on the previous years hidden bonuses. Some may be retained, other may be reversed so what was a bonus becomes a penalty the following year. It will be purely at the discretion of the Rules Maker. There will most likely be 20 hidden bonuses next year, purely because I like round numbers. In order that I can still select a team but cannot gain an advantage, I will not be devising the hidden bonuses. Previous host Clorox Bleachman has kindly agreed to create a new set of bonuses for next years game. I will have absolutely no influence on these, except to say that I would like at least some of the bonuses to reward the more left-field selections rather than the obvious ones, and I would like more of them to be negative bonuses. Lets face it - everyone gets a good laugh out of someone getting a hit and losing points because of it . The list of hidden bonuses will only be given to me after I have posted up my team. 3. BONUSES FOR CERTAIN SPOTS Again these will be randomly selected by Clorox and given to me after I have posted up my team. I hope that this all sounds ok. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to improve the pool further, feel free to share. Just don't suggest removing the hidden bonuses, because that is not going to happen.

*95 Quite an incredible guy. Really struggled with polio when he was younger, served in WWII, and was basically responsible for the first drug trials for childhood leukaemia (with a 50%+ cure rate). Type of person who may score a QO if one of the obit writers gets a quiet day and is looking for someone who had a particularly interesting life.

I was at school with a girl, who despite studying for A-levels in Religious Studies and German didn't know that Martin Luther was not the same person as Martin Luther King. We ended up at the same university both studying German and every time Martin Luther was mentioned I would smirk to myself. Mind you, I shocked a colleague today when I said I didn't know who Nickleback are and I upset a pen pal because I didn't know who Years and Years are.

The one really good thing about being on this forum is that we get to find out when a prolific, but not well known, character actor dies. I had no idea that he was Ron Pember, I only knew the face because he was in a shit ton of stuff over the decades.

You'd be shocked to learn how many families try and announce the death of somebody notable via Wikipedia and don't do anything else. It's always very awkward pinging them with a message saying "sorry for your loss, but you can't break it here".
