2 pointsI’m honestly not sure if the committee should drop Sir David on one hand he seems great and on the other hand 96 seems like the magic number where older folks seem to die suddenly

1 pointWhile watching The Last King of Scotland last night, it occurred to me that the loveable African despot is a potentially rich mine of DL candidates. I rushed home, via the pub, hoping to find that the predecessor (and successor) to Idi Amin (a 2003 success) Milton Obote was still alive, but alas he slipped away in 2005. We nabbed PW Botha last year, and have Ian Smith on this year. But the question is, are there any other good candidates out there? I'd start off with a couple of the obvious: Robert Mugabe, Charles Taylor, Gadaffi (still a despot in my books). Suggestions most welcome

1 pointLet's have a look at the banned FFBI picks of 2022.... might be good timing. 13 names.... 6 deaths, and two of them without QO. Esther Waitherero died in July. Robyn Free didnt get a QO. Phil Rossall just turned 70, unbelievably. Esther Lee and Andrew McAslan had a health rebound.

1 pointThank you for the email! I did my first ever list last year. I haven't done great but I didn't expect too. Gonna give it another go! A quick question - I'm sure there's a good reason for it but I'm wondering why there's several qualifying Scottish publications but no Welsh or indeed Northern Irish ones? No doubt there will be qualifying deaths of Scottish personalities that will get obits in their publications but not the wider UK publications. It seems a shame for the same not to apply to the other home nations. Let me know if I'm asking in the wrong place.

1 pointWhatever guys.....the babble here is kinda proving the point that there are those who want Poe's death to be a mystery in line with his best writing and those who'll consider evidence and see a prosaic solution to the mystery in the recent suggestions. Brain tumour I reckon. Oh aye, and the Lock Ness Monster is complete bollocks as well.
-
1 pointAh, bollocks, another "secret" candidate gone. Not really a despot, no - in fact, quite a nice chap. Indeed, CP, Mr Mamo is the oldest ex-leader around now... Death reported in error. He's in a coma, in critical condition, but not dead yet.
