Agreed. The running joke of 'huge miss' is finally accurate. Barbara Walters and Nichelle Nichols were 2 misses I think could have been avoided. The former Pope? No reason he shouldn't of been Top 5 on this year's DL. Biggest miss of 2022 and, dare i say, of the last few years.

I cancelled on New Years Plans to "look after my dog" - I think the Deathlisting may have been a small contribution to that as well. Large amount of selections like this are usually where I make my mistakes, so I'm trying to be careful as it is the end of the year. Feel free to check the records and stand up for your list - you deserve it. People also called the Pope different things in their list which adds to more potential mistakes. I've tried to be thorough and look for different things he might have been called. (things considered were "pope", "benedict", and I did "XVI" not thinking it would pick any up that I missed - but it picked up our tied champ, gcreptile, who called him Benedikt XVI. Betty White died on this day a year ago, aged 99. White was already well-known before The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Golden Girls; she had been on TV since the near beginning. In 1953, she created and starred in Life with Elizabeth, making her the first female producer of a sitcom. In 1954, she hosted The Betty White Show- one of the regular performers on her show was Arthur Duncan, a black man- the show was cancelled when White refused to fire him after Jim Crow-state pressure, and sadly, the show was cancelled after failing to find sponsorships. White was also a staple on game shows, such as What's My Line, To Tell the Truth, and most notably Password. She married the latter's host, Allen Ludden, in 1963. Ludden died in 1981, and White's last known word was "Allen". White remains the latest DeathList hit, dying six and a half hours before the new list was supposed to come up- she was supposed to be in the #1 spot, and it is believed that Dick Van Dyke was simply shifted up a space. Denis Law was hastily selected as the replacement name (according to the thread creation time).
