3 pointsHans Herrmann, the impressive and exceptionally versatile motor racing driver, one of the most successful racing drivers of all time and one of the few remaining witnesses of his era, whose motorsports career lasted from 1952 to 1970, best remembered as a fantastic long-distance specialist, who was kidnapped once in the 1990s, and was born in Stuttgart, Germany, is 95 today. Linda Nolan, the famous and phenomenal Irish actress, singer, and television personality, who started her professional singing career in the 1970s, who originally made her name and found fame as part of family singing group "The Nolans", whose solo career began in 1983, a widely recognised face who is no stranger to being on the television, is 64 today.

2 pointsIs it 'less tragic' to fall in the river when you're half-cut at 10 in the morning, or to realise in the middle of another pointless zoom meeting with your boss that life's a piece of shit and it'll never get any better so I'm jumping into this here stream with stones in my pockets? Depressing all around, from her actual death, to the media feeding frenzy, to the police bungling, to the online Clouseau wannabes . I'm aware that even posting this makes me part of ithe circus unfortunately. But why this particular case when the many similar accidents/suicides don't interest the masses media at all? Still, at least it seems the dog is off the hook.

2 pointsAppeared on Chris Sarandon's podcast. Seems well. (Incidentally, Sarandon also looks terrific for his age.)

1 pointBuzz Aldrin is an astronaut who was one of two first people to walk on the moon back in 1969 with Neil Armstrong. He is 91 years old now, but don't know how his health. Surprised he didn't have his own thread already so far as I know at least.

1 pointBodybuilders don't have the best reputations when it comes to physical feature enhancement. While not all have resorted to artificial help, many have done so. The results may have produced large physiques, but they've also resulted in side effects, serious medical issues and even death. And since the latter is what this site is all about, perhaps it's time bodybuilders got their own thread.

1 pointFormer King Albert II of Belgium turns 89 this year. He abdicated in 2013 for health reasons. Both he and his wife, Queen Paola, use canes. Maybe one for 2024? Picture of King Albert and Queen Paola from september last year, at the wedding of their granddaughter Princess Maria Laura.

1 pointAhmed Suat Oyazici, Turkish Trabzonspor’s player (1967-1972) and manager (1973-1988 and 1999) is dead at 87 Under his management, Trabzonspor won 4 Champions titles, 3 Cups and 5 Supercup, doing the treble (Championship, Cup and Supercup) in 1977. These was the first time a club outside the « big three » (Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce) had won the the championship, a feat that was only repeated in 2010, 2020 and 2022 As a player, he was a member of Turkey’s okympic team in 1960.

1 pointThat reminded me of this masterpiece.

1 pointJust looked at those pictures. Buzz Aldrin certainly looks like an older Robert Morse.

1 pointNot sure if this even fits here, I wouldn't call this guy a bodybuilder, but he doesn't really fit into the performance drug athletes thread either as he was certainly not an athlete... "Brazilian Hulk" Valdir Segato, "bodybuilder" who injected himself with Synthol for years dead on his 55th birthday from a heart attack. He's the one who had massive breasts.

1 pointDon't forget a certain Olivia Newton John's interest in all of this: I preferred this to Musclebound by Spandau Ballet, simply for the decoration of the ahem set....
-
1 pointI understand but I don't know, Buzz is quite the different beast than just your average "moonwalker" IMO. Someone who will be remembered for millenia shouldn't be just lumped with the rest of them astronauts. Maybe just my personal bias.

1 pointJust listening to a BBC iPlayer of a Six Music show yesterday and she gets an obit there. Fair play to the news organisations for treating it well

1 pointDetailed Sandy Jardine interview here - http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/spfl-lower-divisions/rangers-legend-sandy-jardine-on-battling-cancer-1-3051261 - again "it's in remission". If he is in remission and stays that way, then his survival will have a big impact on the DDP title contenders.
