4 pointsRoger Ebert died on this day 10 years ago, aged 70. - Ebert's first review was for the 1966 Georges Lautner film Galia, which he gave two-and-a-half stars (out of four). Over his 46 years in film criticism, he reviewed over 7,000 movies. - Ebert was primarily known for his scathing reviews- particularly those for Caligula, North, and Mad Dog Time. Conversely, his favorites included Casablanca, Singin' in the Rain, and Goodfellas. - Ebert first teamed up with Gene Siskel in 1975 for a Chicago public broadcast station, and their show was called Sneak Previews. This would soon be picked up by PBS, which they left in 1982 to make the show At the Movies. Following Siskel's death in 1999, Ebert would partner with rotating co-hosts that included Martin Scorsese (Ebert was the first critic to review Scorsese's first film Who's That Knocking at My Door). - Ebert would also venture into filmmaking himself, writing the screenplay for 1970's Beyond the Valley of the Dolls- this was given 0 stars by Gene Siskel, but has since gained a cult following. Ebert was also involved with the production of the cancelled Sex Pistols film Who Killed Bambi? - Ebert was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2002, having it removed that same year. He was then diagnosed with salivary gland cancer in 2003, went into remission, and was re-diagnosed with it in 2006. He nearly died from surgery, which left him unable to speak (yet did not appear on DeathList 2007). These surgeries continued through 2008, and by 2011, his face was damaged to the point where he needed a prosthetic chin: Ebert was hospitalized in December of 2012 following a hip fracture, and died four months later before he would be released into hospice care (definitely a list miss).

3 pointsI think Nigel Lawson gave up when he kept coming second in the most loathed Nigel competition every year

3 pointsOooooo. Mod abuse? People get a forced 7 day holiday for less.

3 pointsIt isn't as you well know, nor is it frequented only by Brits as you also well know. It was founded by Brits, oh wait, you know this.... And the US whilst pre-eminent in many things interweb related doesn't and shouldn't dominate every single bloody site in the world. Which, wait for it... ...you already know.

3 pointsTomiichi Murayama makes rare public appearance and actually looks great. Not as great as he did over a year ago, but great for 99. I expect he'll outlive Manolic, Cesar YU (if he's still alive - I'd say there's a chance he'll die off-radar), Siphandone & the other 1924 cohort and become the undisputed oldest living state leader. But those three and Carter have proven to be very tough.

2 pointsNigel is virtually extinct, even in the UK, where only 28 have been lumbered with it since 2015. None at all in 2020, not sure if any in 2021/22. John Nott sees off another Thatch 1st Ministry competitor. It would be amusing (to me) if the Right Honourable ‘Here Today Gone Tomorrow’ MP became the last man standing.

2 pointsHe is DeathList favourite Clive Dunn, the very first No.1 on the DL and was for a long time considered immortal until he eventually died in 2012, aged 92. The picture is used as a way of telling people that the contents of a post have been duplicated (that it has already been "Dunn").

2 pointsProving this is a website for U.K. viewers only. I hope whoever he was left me money. Please don’t name your child Nigel. My sister named her cat Nigel, (named after the XTC song of course). It’s a fine cat name.

2 pointsThere's a Jimmy King photoshoot of David Bowie that circulates widely as the last photographs of him. They get posted with the claim that they were taken on his birthday in 2016, two days prior to his death, but there is no evidence to suggest this - they were simply published that day on Bowie's social media channels and were likely taken in 2015. Anyway - here's the last photo of Bowie we can be sure of. He's leaving the Lazarus premiere on 7 December 2015, his first public appearance in a long time and of course his last too. Great smile despite how ill he was.

1 pointBob Knight hospitalised and recently released for an 'acute illness'. Declining health reports in 2019, looking frail in videos in 2020, and no longer replying to fanmail as of last year due to illness are all noted here. I don't fancy his chances of seeing the year out.

1 pointI did it... for the first time in my life I am using a trading account. I put 100 Euros in there and bought 10 Dogecoin and Deutsche Bank stock. Luckily, a few hours after I bought them, Elon Musk changed the Twitter logo to the Doge. Meaning my 70 cent investment increased in value by 20% within hours, from 7 cents to 9 cents. I'm rich.

1 pointIt's supposedly his "final" movie though, and he might just be the kind of person to drop dead the minute they stop working.

1 pointAmanda Barrie was in Tonight’s episode of Casualty (As she has been for a few episodes over the last few months) and she has looked fairly well for 87.

1 pointWith the recent news on Jimmy Carter, I thought I'd look at the numbers and see what could lie ahead - and saw that no one picked him as their joker! But it could be good news for four punters: LizLemon, Summer in Translyvania, DoorSlammer, Book - who would all get a third hit and resulting bonus point. It also occured to me that the full picks and jokers distribution had not been shared. It is below and will be added to the Stats section.
