Well, I'm not a snob or a member of a brigade. Personally I've never been a fan of The Beatles. I don't like their songs. On the other hand, one of the songs that touches my heart the most is "What A Wonderful World". "What A Wonderful World" was played, three years ago, at my son's funeral. He liked "What A Wonderful World" just as much as I did. Believe it, or not, there's no reason to suspect a sinister motive behind my votes. It's my personal taste.

I have some suggestions for the 2024 immortals list. 1. Kong Nay: Cambodian musician. He was apparently "living out the final days of his life"... 1 year ago. Diabetes complications, blood pressure issues, lung failure, and somehow still alive. 2. Roman Kostomarov: Russian ice dancer. Allegedly suffered from cerebral hemorrhage, oedema, meningitis, two strokes, blood infection. He was also on life support due to complications from pneumonia and in a coma a few months ago. Apparently, he needs a few amputations too. 3. Edmund White: American writer. He revealed he was HIV-positive in 1985, and in 2012, he suffered two strokes AND a heart attack within the span of a few months. 4. Ranulph Fiennes: British explorer. He suffered two heart attacks, underwent a double heart bypass, and survived cancer. He also has diabetes.

My thoughts exactly. I quite like a grand total of two Beatles songs (Michelle, While My Guitar Gently Weeps - though I thought for a long time that was just George Harrison) but the rest just aren’t to my taste; lots of them I just find aggravating. You’d have done your son so proud with What A Wonderful World, it’s a truly gorgeous song and I hope that, despite the sad associated occasion, it brings you comfort. Rolling Stones fan here. I could sing the praises of Paint It Black (one of my faves in this game) and Gimme Shelter (definitely my fave song of theirs and of the 60s as a whole; it gives me goosebumps every single time), but I’ll readily admit that Honky Tonk Women belongs in the bin. Most of the best bands have done some bilge in their time. Anyway, where were we? Do posthumous photos count? Both Queen Victoria and Edward VII were photographed on their deathbed. Incidentally, the last photo of the Queen Mother. Attending her daughter's funeral on 15th February 2002. She died less than a month later on the 9th April 2002 and is clearly the most famous centenary who has ever lived...

I do like The Beatles more overall, but I do think that the best Stones songs are better than the best Beatles songs.

Yes, also extra staggering that he is still alive over 60 years after he seriously contemplated suicide, and also considering he has lived a mostly unhappy life because he has been unhappy with who he turned out to be.

@Handrejka I can find two kid (at the time) actors who appeared in more than 1 episode - Will Bates and Darren Traynor. Frank Windsor was in one episode for example, but regular blokes hard to come by.

Indeed for all the accusations of being morbid at least we acknowledge the passing of talents rather than deny the deaths of talented people even after families announce the individuals death.Yes not everyone's demise makes the BBC news ticker but they are still worthy of acknowledgement and appreciation when they pass on.

Could have put this in the AA Gill thread but... Report of the death of DDP Pick Yvonne Gilan, AA Gill's mother but an actress in her own right and best known probably as another Fawlty Towers alumnus as Mrs Peignoir in The Wedding Party. She was 86. Other credits include Z Cars and French Fields on TV, and Chariots of Fire and Empire Of The Sun on film. IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0317913/
