12 pointsIt’s coming up, it’s coming up, it’s coming up, it’s coming up, it’s coming up, it’s coming up It’s DARE™ After 3 long months of voting, during which we killed over 200 different songs and we saw the start and end of both the 70’s and 80's No. 2 games. We finally have a winner! The collaboration between Shaun Ryder’s disembodied head and virtual band Gorillaz was voted as the best UK No.1 hit of the 2000’s according to the very prestigious deathlist.net forums. The song never did no harm to its voters, but many a forum user felt that Gnarls Barkley should’ve been there themselves, but it didn’t work out in the end for them. This is how the finale played out: 1 Gorillaz- Dare 2 Gnarls Barkley - Crazy (theoldlady) 3 Britney Spears- Toxic (Paul Bearer) 4 Nelly Furtado - Maneater (Great Uncle Bulgaria) 5 Lady Gaga - Bad Romance (Imelda) 6 Kylie Minogue - Can’t Get You Out Of My Head (TQR) 7 Eminem ft. Dido - Stan (Toast) 8 Lady Gaga - Poker Face (theoldlady) 9 Evanescence - Bring Me To Life (theoldlady) 10 Spiller - Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love) (theoldlady) 11 Stereophonics- Dakota (ladyfiona) 12 t.A.T.u. - All The Things She Said (Bibliogryphon) 13 Katy Perry - I Kissed a Girl (Toast) 14 Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin’ (theoldlady) 15 Rihanna ft. Jay-Z - Umbrella (theoldlady) 16 Sugababes - Push the Button (Root Inspector) 17 La Roux - Bulletproof (theoldlady) 18 Beyoncé ft. Jay-Z - Crazy in Love (RIP Wee Jum) 19 Modjo - Lady (Hear Me Tonight) (ladyfiona) 20 All Saints - Pure Shores (DoltonMoney) 21 Aaliyah - More Than a Woman (theoldlady) 22 Elvis vs JXL - A Little Less Conversation (Paul Bearer) 23 Estelle ft. Kanye West - American Boy (Toast) 24 Britney Spears - Oops!… I Did It Again (ladyfiona) 25 Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor (theoldlady) Bit funny that the two primate-named bands took the top and bottom spots in the finale. KILLER QUEENS: 9 theoldlady 3 ladyfiona 3 Toast 2 Paul Bearer 1 DoltonMoney 1 RIP Wee Jum 1 Root Inspector 1 Bibliogryphon 1 TQR 1 Imelda 1 Great Uncle Bulgaria No surprises on who’s on top. Songs in the final by year: 2000: 5 (Pure Shores, Lady (Hear Me Tonight), Stan, Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love), Oops!… I Did It Again) 2001: 1 (Can’t Get You Out Of My Head) 2002: 2 (More Than a Woman, A Little Less Conversation) 2003: 3 (All The Things She Said, Bring Me to Life, Crazy in Love) 2004: 3 (Toxic, Push the Button, I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor) 2005: 2 (Dare, Dakota) 2006: 3 (Crazy, Maneater, I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’) 2007: 1 (Umbrella) 2008: 2 (I Kissed a Girl, American Boy) 2009: 3 (Bad Romance, Poker Face, Bulletproof) And to add a bit of fun to this, the following are the 25 worst UK No. 1 hits of the 2000's, according to our votes. (Using the same methodology of 4/5/6 songs per round.) And well, that’s me done hosting a KoS till we get to the UK No.3’s, which will probably start in early 2024 considering how these games usually last. Thanks to everyone for playing, please join the 90’s No.2’s game if you haven’t, right now we’re deciding Pavarotti’s fate, so please help him survive/get him eliminated.

7 pointsGlynis Johns, the excellent film, stage, and television actress, dancer, musician, and singer, probably best known for her supporting role in the 1964 film "Mary Poppins", one of the most famous works of her versatile career, who was the recipient of a Tony Award for her noted performance in the Broadway production of "A Little Night Music", is 100 today.

5 pointshttps://abc7.com/13864695/ Gives rare interview on her 100th! She looks and sounds pretty good. Incredibly, not only is there no Damehood but no star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

3 pointsWow! I now have 2 points and am no longer in last place. Pinch me I'm dreaming.
-
3 pointsI remember when, I remember I remember when DLers lost their minds…it was when they picked a song that doesn’t even make Gorillaz’s own Top 5 as the best fucking number one of the decade. Infact, even Cee Lo and Dangermouse claiming that accolade is a bit of a stretch. This is fucked. I say we name Fatman Scoop the winner as a compromise.

2 pointsDare was a song that I only discovered through this game but it was an answer on Richard Osman's House of Games the other week. Interesting result. Which one of you is Damon Albarn?
-
2 pointsMost likely. I went to Disney World this past summer. I’m only 32, and it was very tiring
-
2 pointsWell, you guys eliminated Viva la Vida in the qualifying rounds, so you reap what you sow.
-
2 pointsMaths fail. Next person take two more off Pav please. And will everyone PLEASE stop trying to cheat the song some extra points FFS or it’ll be the first time I actually ban a song rather than a player.

1 pointNo, they won't. But the dam is breaking, maybe in 2029 and after. 2025 will rather see some complicated coalition government ot prevent the AfD. He's one of the AfD's more moderate faces. Other names in the party would have been more dramatic targets. Curious story. His condition seems under control. But the wording is still ambivalent.

1 pointManfred Mann is quite a notable one - their entire original lineup is still with us and yet they've never fully reformed.

1 pointYeah, it's just not going to happen. He for sure is one of the immortals now, and you kind of expect him to just keep going. But realistically.. I found another picture of him from the peanut event thing, and he does look like someone receiving hospice care... seeing 2024 will be a stretch I think.

1 pointOnly just seen this. What he didn't know about Track & Field wasn't worth knowing. RIP.

1 pointDouble checked with Wiki because Willz memories go back further than mine. Ask Aspel def on in the 70s, so if all going in twelve months as suggested above I'd like to welcome Michael Aspel to DL2024 if he makes it!
