Several posts on Facebook reporting that Angel Martín Taboas (wiki) died on Friday (27th) aged 105. Credible report from a Puerto Rican politician's FB page here.

The actual definition of ‘meme’ is a unit of cultural information. Photos, cartoons, clips, myths, jokes, they can all be memes if they’re shared on a large enough scale.

He looks frail but otherwise his shape is good for a 95 years old man. 2023 will not be his year...we would see if his condition evolve in 2024.

Still in hospital , but seemingly better. If he spends a bit more time in hospital he will become a founding major general of PLA ad honorem.

I know some of you won't be glad to see another thread created but I won't stop advocating for her inclusion in next year list. One of the most influential french political figure of the XXth and 00's still alive. In failing health for a decade now, too frail to attend her husband funeral in 2019. Last public appearance was in 2019 when she pronounced a speech for the inauguration of a "Jacques and Bernadette Chirac street" in Brive-la-gaillarde : wheelchairbound, can't even take the veil of the street sign down by herself, has difficulties talking etc (here, around 14min) The only news that we have of her are from her family telling us that she's "on the margins of society" and "very weak". Surely qualifies in term of notoriety and age. The fact she's still alive is a miracle. Her in 2017. Already looked really frail

Oh people could just shut up their whinging arses. I don't see the issue with threads being started for anybody. Simon Cowell has one for cripes sake. if the thread isn't genuinely needed it won't be used and will die, if it's interesting people will use it.

So, an interesting point about this case is that it is indeed one of the hardest to explain away (most are unexplained but many fall so obviously into particular explanations - meteorites, mistaken observations of Venus etc. - that they soon form a pattern and the more sceptical investigators find it easy to show the pattern). I'm fairly open-minded by comparison to the harder sceptics to the possibility that one or two cases are truly strange. Oddly, the main thing that's "wrong" in this regard with the Knowles family case is how much the initial encounter then goes on to fit the kind of abduction narrative that was fairly prevalent at the time. Given that many of those abductions are discredited now the Knowles' story - sort of - suffers by comparison. Which is why you could take a sceptical view that natural phenomena + hysteria just about explains it.

God that was a show so dreadful that it was compulsive viewing. Jimmy Clitheroe died at 52 following an overdose. (He was four foot three inches tall so two Paracetamol may have been enough. ) nBut was there a health problem responsible for his stature and slightly oriental appearance?
