9 pointsWe're Short of a Bob or Two Bobby Charlton has died at the age of 86, becoming the Inverse Dead Pool's second consecutive Bob lost to dementia. Despite living in the shadow of his brother, over-60s walking-football champion Tommy Charlton, Bobby was an accomplished football player in his own right. A member of the winning 1966 England World Cup squad, he also famously survived the Munich air disaster – at least for the initial 65 years before he finally succumbed to his injuries. The pinnacle of his career came in 1983, when he became director of my hometown team, Wigan Athletic – a cruel oxymoron, given the quantities of pie we eat. In later life, he went from Ballon d'Or to Death's d'Or. Diagnosed with dementia at an unspecified point before 2020 – he couldn't remember when – he lived out his final years in Ribsmasher Windowsills Care Home, a choice that would be his tragic undoing. Bobby suffered complications from a fall, after Lionel Blair, Jim Bowen, and Keith Chegwin strapped him into a pillory and pulled his trousers down. He is survived by his wife, Norma Ball – and now, indeed, there is no more ball. 22 of you picked him – enough to fill a football pitch. I think it's all over for @msc, found dribbling his way back to last place with 13 points for a total of 79. @Alcalina continues his catastrophic streak with another 18 points – still in 1st place with 0 points just 4 leaderboard updates ago, he's now 47th with 64. Alcalina's aliterative partner @Annami suffers similar misfortune – with 20 points on Bobby, she's out of the top 5, and indeed the top 22. Also off the winning team is @Nick – a 9-point own goal takes him to a total of 13, putting him in 13th (note that we're now in the phase of the game where half the points match the rankings). On the bright side, those two players help @Death Impends rise from 8th to 7th despite a 4-point penalty, and @Bibliogryphon is right about 5 points not doing him much harm – he goes from 34th to 31st. Good news also for @Grimgrass, whose grass expertise no doubt helped on the pitch – their Bobby-free team slides into the top 5. But the top 4 – including the three nil-pointers – remain unfouled. Could these be the first three players in this pool's history to see out a full year without a hit? GAINED TOTAL = 1. LizLemon 0 = 1. tracy 0 = 1. Book 0 = 4. Spade_Cooley 1 ▲ 5. 3 pointsYou’re such an idiot it’s unreal. There are WWII vets born 1928, 1929, 1930. They were 15–17 when they served. There will be people alive who are in their 110s in the 2040s who served. Guaranteed.

2 pointsWell the last WW1 Veteran died in 2011/12 (depending on who you count), 93/94 years after the war ended so things will only be reaching their end by 2040.

1 pointI think the top 3 should be this. 1. Jimmy Carter 2. Henry Kissinger 3. Rosalynn Carter. I can’t see those 3 seeing past 2024. The Carter’s Will be an exact repeat of the Bush’s.

1 pointYou do you. I hope you didn’t take my vote as an attack, as I said I would vote down whichever song was in the lead bc I felt they were all shite, including Born fekkin Slippy, which was never heard on this side of the pond—unlike Tubthumping which you have ‘attacked’ and maybe you can express your misplaced hatred for that one, seeing as two listening audiences liked it vs your song. In any case I’ve explained MY vote and I will be consistent.

1 pointClive Dunn died on this day 11 years ago, aged 92. (this picture of him is a bit too small...) (better.) - Dunn came from an acting family- his parents were actors, and he was the cousin of EastEnders actress Gretchen Franklin (who was also a DeathList hit, in 2005). Dunn's first acting role came in an uncredited role in 1935's Boys Will Be Boys. - He would have to put his career on hold once World War II broke out, and he saw action in Greece, where he was taken as a POW by the Nazis, only being freed at the war's end. Dunn would be demobilized in 1947. - Dunn would soon turn to TV, appearing on The Tony Hancock Show, It's a Square World, and Bootsie and Snudge. - Dunn is best known for his role as Lance Corporal Jones in Dad's Army, which he played during the entirety of the show's run (from 1968 to 1977): (this is the uncropped version of the emoji) - At the peak of his popularity, Dunn recorded the novelty song "Grandad", which reached #1 on the UK Singles Chart in 1971: He would star in a show with the same name from 1979 to 1984. - The reason for Dunn's prominence on this site was the fact that he was the #1 name on the inaugural 1987 list (for unknown reasons), which earned him the description of "DeathList Favourite". Over the next 25 years, he would appear 16 times (a record since surpassed by Kirk Douglas in 2019), and in later years he would often take up the #50 spot. Dunn was the 10th hit of 2012.

1 pointBeing extremely bored, I decided to tally up all the votes on each of the Unknown Man's 14 prediction polls for the remaining 27 names on the deathlist. The results from the 14th poll are current as of approximately 45 minutes ago. For the tied votes, I have listed the name with the most recent votes first. 01. Jimmy Carter 506 02. Joanne Woodward 119 03. Nigel Starmer-Smith 88 04. Henry Kissinger 86 05. Jean-Marie Le Pen 77 06. Shane MacGowan 59 07. Linda Nolan 49 08. Sandy Gall 47 09. Yoko Ono 38 09. Sonny Rollins 38 11. Norman Lear 35 11. Ethel Kennedy 35 11. Dennis Skinner 35 14. Rosalynn Carter 34 15. Jacques Delors 33 16. Bob Newhart 32 17. Joss Ackland 31 17. Norman Tebbit 31 19. Imelda Marcos 28 20. Cleo Laine 26 21. Stanley Baxter 24 22. Dick Van Dyke 23 23. Alan Greenspan 22 24. Pete Murray 20 24. Dick Cheney 20 26. Prunella Scales 13 26. Willie Nelson 13 26. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei 13 26. Desmond Morris 13 30. Hal Linden 12 31. Robert Wagner 11 32. Mel Brooks 10 32. Andy Taylor 10 34. Marianne Faithfull 9 34. Robert Duvall 9 36. Angie Dickinson 8 37. Alan Alda 7 Looking at this list, the one thing that strikes me is how few votes Mel Brooks received. Even though he is not in the top 25, he has to be a shoo-in for next year's list considering his age and condition.

1 pointAmerican writer an filmmaker Michael Crichton died on this day 15 years ago, aged 66. His books have sold over 200 million copies worldwide, and over a dozen have been adapted into films. His literary works heavily feature technology and are usually within the science fiction, techno-thriller, and medical fiction genres. Crichton's novels often explore human technological advancement and attempted dominance over nature, both with frequently catastrophic results; many of his works are cautionary tales, especially regarding themes of biotechnology. Several of his stories center specifically around themes of genetic modification, hybridisation, paleontology and/or zoology. Many feature medical or scientific underpinnings, reflective of his own medical training and scientific background. He eventually wrote 26 novels, including: The Andromeda Strain (1969), The Terminal Man (1972), The Great Train Robbery (1975), Congo (1980), Sphere (1987), Jurassic Park (1990), Rising Sun (1992), Disclosure (1994), The Lost World (1995), Airframe (1996), Timeline (1999), Prey (2002), State of Fear (2004), and Next (2006). In 1973, he wrote and directed Westworld, the first film to use 2D computer-generated imagery. He also directed Coma (1978), The First Great Train Robbery (1978), Looker (1981), and Runaway (1984). Irish presenter and host of radio and television Gay Byrne died on this day 4 years ago, aged 85. His most notable role was as the first host of The Late Late Show over a 37-year period span ing 1962 until 1999. The Late Late Show is the world's second longest-running chat show. He was affectionately known as "Uncle Gay", "Gaybo" or "Uncle Gaybo". His time working in Britain with Granada Television saw him become the first person to introduce The Beatles on-screen, and Byrne was later the first to introduce Boyzone on screen in 1993. From 1973 until 1998, Byrne presented The Gay Byrne Show when it expanded to two hours - on RTE Radio 1 each weekday morning. Byrne presented several other programmes, including Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, The Meaning of Life and For One Night Only on RTE One and Sunday Serenade/Sunday with Gay Byrne on RTE lyric fm. In 2006, he was elected Chairman of Ireland's Road Safety Authority.
