I know I said I was retiring from dead pooling but I decided to send in an entry anyways cause why not. Definitely nowhere as well researched as my past teams but I couldn’t really resist. Oh and the counterculture theme is back as per usual

I think it may be time to start thinking about Brian Wilson. After 20+ years of endless tours, he had a very quiet 2023 and made his only public appearance of the year seated at “Grammy Salutes the Beach Boys” in April. He’s had surgery in the past for a hereditary back problem and having watched him be helped walk to his piano when I saw him live in 2016, I expect he uses a wheelchair now. Some fans found it hard to watch his last tour in 2022 - see this clip of Brian performing “God Only Knows” then. Now, all of this doesn’t mean he’s about to die but he is 81, I think it’s unlikely we will see him tour again and he has had more than his fair share of health issues over the past 60 years.

The bane of Southern Europe during the Financial Crisis (but also the legal architect of German Reunification). I read an interview with him, about 2 months ago, he complained that nobody is calling his phone anymore. I guess he sort of died of either boredom or feeling useless. Edit: They've added now that he died after a long, heavy illness. If he had cancer, it was a secret.

Wolfgang Schäuble, German lawyer, politician and statesman whose political career has spanned for more than five decades, has died at 81. He was the target of an assassination attempt in 1990, was left paralysed from the attack and has used a wheelchair ever since. https://www.spiegel.de/politik/deutschland/wolfgang-schaeuble-ist-tot-a-33e8129f-b41d-4b5d-9a10-fd8aedbbe08d

I've entered my annual team but to my great shock, for the first time ever in a decade, NO REJECTIONS. I've clearly gone full casual player!

Gustave Eiffel died on this day 100 years ago, aged 91. - Eiffel had studied both chemistry and engineering in his youth, and his first construction job came in 1857, for a railway bridge. - He would continue to work in the train industry, overseeing the construction of steam engines used to help complete the Suez Canal, as well as several viaducts in his native France. - One of Eiffel's first building commissions came in 1868 when the Peruvian government asked him to redesign the St. Mark's Cathedral after the original was destroyed in an earthquake. - In 1881, Auguste Bartholdi contacted Eiffel to help with the construction of the Statue of Liberty- Eiffel was responsible for designing its internal structure: - The Eiffel Tower was not his idea- one of his friends, Maurice Koechlin made the original sketch in 1884; Eiffel initially disliked the idea of building it until another architect, Stephen Sauvestre, added decorative supports to it. The building permit was signed in 1887, and it was the tallest man-made structure in the world between 1889 and 1930. - Eiffel was also involved in designing the locks for France's preliminary idea of the Panama Canal; however the company went under in 1888, and would be accused of misappropriating funds. Eiffel was found guilty in 1893, but successfully appealed and avoided jail time. - In later years, Eiffel studied meteorology and aerodynamics, constructing wind tunnels and weather stations. - Eiffel died while listening to Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.

If his podcasts are anything to go by, the man seems to still be in good condition. I recently listened to one where he and Mike acted out a scene from M*A*S*H written by chatGPT, and I swear to God he sounded the same as he did decades ago.

So I just stumbled over a YouTuber called "The Liver King". He's selling a raw meat + steroids diet and gets closer to a massive heart attack with each video. His breathing is very heavy, his face has aged dramatically.

Henry Moore (wiki) turned 100 in November as per this Facebook post. AFAIK, only the second Church of England bishop to become a centenarian, after John Cavell (wiki, 1916–2017). If Moore lives for just another few months he'll become the oldest ever.

I'd like to see: Warren Buffett Betty DeGeneres Barbara Eden Chuck Grassley Mitch McConnell Joe Biden June Lockheart David Attenborough Gene Hackman Janis Paige Sophia Loren (she had a fall recently) Iris Apfel June Spencer June Squibb Michelle Presle Ray Anthony Eva Marie Saint (oldest Oscar winner ever) Bonnie Bartlett Noam Chomsky Tippi Hedren Peter Marshall Buzz Aldrin John Astin Caren Marsh Doll (like the last Wizard of Oz person left) And I think someone like Willie Nelson could come off the list for next year if you're wondering who to cut. And getting some of the aging US political dinosaurs will be important. Gonna be some big hit opportunities next year! Been watching for years from the sidelines!

I already consider Chomsky a stupid ommission. As for James Whale. If one of them die this year, they would have been a miss. Like Kaczyinski. The other 3 were not misses for me. Sandra Day O Connor was also a miss : should and could have been on the list several times considering her age, fame and illness. Comparable to Nichelle Nichols back in 2022.
