Was at the barbers today when they found out he had died - apparently he had been in only two weeks ago for a cut and made no mention of illness then, so seems his illness and passing were quite sudden. Absolutely no age to go. Every time I see someone insist a premature death is because of vaccines I wonder if they were the kid in school who had a meltdown whenever they had to get them.

Until an official cause of death is announced responsible journalists will try to stick to the facts and this is a case of wanting to pay tribute without speculation. What a very strange assertion this is.

Well, if I can manage to be serious long enough and you aren't just taking the piss, both of which can hardly be guaranteed.... In reality, I have zero time for religion and think they are all dangerous. If you need a supreme being of any description to ensure you "do as you would be done by" you're saying that by default you'd hurt others without this fear and at best I'm unimpressed. I also have zero time for paying for the advertising, that I hate, for a product that is no better and often worse than the own brand alternative. If you are actually saying what you appear to be saying that both religion and own brand are fucking madness, then I'm 50% with you. On reflection, I'm not serious, and you are taking the piss.

There's times I think the Daily Express is desperate, falling readership, totally irrelevent ideas and the toxic problem of having to pander to an ageing group of die-hard readers who are, well, dying and leaving the Express stranded and light-years away from attracting the kind of audience that'd give it any kind of robust future. Then there are times I look at the front cover, wonder if everyone working there is on drugs and quietly envy them!

When you say it's a religion, do you mean that it's very easy to come to the conclusion that the practice is absolute fucking madness?

Nancy Reagan died on this day 8 years ago, aged 94. She was an American film actress and the First Lady of the United States from 1981 to 1989, as the second wife of president Ronald Reagan. As Nancy Davis, she was a Hollywood actress in the 1940s and 1950s, starring in films such as The Next Voice You Hear..., Night into Morning, and Donovan's Brain. In 1952, she married Ronald Reagan, who was then president of the Screen Actors Guild. Nancy Reagan was the First Lady of California when her husband was governor from 1967 to 1975, and she began to work with the Foster Grandparents Program. Reagan became First Lady of the United States in January 1981, following her husband's victory in the 1980 presidential election. Early in his first term, she was criticized largely due to her decisions both to replace the White House china, which had been paid for by private donations, and to accept free clothing from fashion designers. She championed causes opposed to recreational drug use when she founded the "Just Say No" drug awareness campaign, which was considered her major initiative as First Lady. More discussion of her role ensued following a 1988 revelation that she had consulted an astrologer to assist in planning the president's schedule after the attempted assassination of her husband in 1981. She generally had a strong influence on her husband and played a role in a few of his personnel and diplomatic decisions. Nancy devoted most of her time to caring for her husband, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 1994, until his death at the age of 93 on June 5, 2004. Reagan remained active within the Reagan Libraryand in politics, particularly in support of embryonic stem cell research, until her death from congestive heart failure.

The first victim of the Mummy in Saturday's Doctor Who episode was an old lady played by Janet Henfrey (b.1935) but when I checked out where I recognised her from it was from the 1989 DW episode The Curse of Fenric where she played - an old lady so she should join the ranks of Peter Sallis, Warren Mitchell and Stephanie Cole in being nominated for the Clive Dunn eternal pensioner award.
