6 pointsI knew something was off. I grew up a town over from Ethel's Hyannis Port compound. Family gatherings are unheard of outside of Thanksgiving and the summer. I don't know the family personally, but her absence from the local 4th of July parade the last several years has led many locals to believe she is quite frail and it's unlikely she is able to leave home. Very little has been seen of her locally since her granddaughters fatal drug overdose, which occurred inside her home almost five years ago. It's said that really broke her spirit. Again, I have no inside knowledge, just local gossip.

3 pointsListened to Sunak's speech this morning on the Rwanda Bill. It is quite clear his Government has gone rogue. The ability of the Executive simply to ignore court rulings is a breach of the British Constitution's system of checks and balances. Even Boris Johnson or Margaret Thatcher in their most orgasmic of wet dreams would never have dreamed of the Executive holding sway and putting themselves above the law. I wish he would just fuck off.

3 pointsDipping into this serious book on ufology this morning by way of researching summat, thought to put the dates of birth and death of Sturrock into what I'm writing only to discover he's still around and turned 100 last month: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_A._Sturrock Definitely the chance of an obit somewhere, esp.the kind that'd count in the more permissive pools

3 pointsYoko to receive the Edward MacDowell Medal for lifetime achievement. Article does mention that "Ono, 91, has made few public appearances in recent years and is not expected to attend the July awards ceremony, at the MacDowell campus in Peterborough, New Hampshire. Ono's music manager, David Newgarden, will accept the award on her behalf." Yoko Ono to receive Edward MacDowell Medal for lifetime achievement (msn.com)

3 pointsI missed this last week during the Masters coverage but came across it tonight. In this tribute video for Verne Lundquist, who worked his 40th and final Masters, notice at the 2:15 mark how Nicklaus' left hand/wrist is purple with what looks like senile purpura. We've seen this with a lot of older folks like Mitch McConnell recently. Perhaps he has some cardiovascular issues? Speaking of which, you see a purple spot on Lundquist's right hand at the 3:33 mark. Mr. Lundqvist is quite obese, so he may not be likely to see 90. I'm guessing that neither of them do, and I'm particularly concerned for Jack. (Jack is 84 and Verne is 83, for the record.)

3 pointsWhile I understand the article attributes this photo to being taken in 2024, I do not believe this photo is current. Joe Kennedy III who is seated in front of the photo is holding what appears to be his baby son who was born in 2017. It's possible it could be another relative but it seems unlikely. Also the little girl in the top right of the blow up with the red bow appears to be Joe Kennedy III's daughter, Eleanor who was born in 2015. I suspect this photo dates to 2018/2019.

3 pointsThis election, for me, is about destroying the Tories as much as possible. In my constituency, Labour are the most likely to defeat them, so that’s where my vote is going. I’d love to be voting Green but priorities innit. Check who is the most effective anti-Tory vote in your constituency!

2 pointsThink so too, also think there are a few factions out there incl. Braverman's little posse all of whom think they are in with a chance - if Sunak is in the position of facing a vote it'll likely get divisive, ugly and do nowt for their already dire poll ratings.

2 pointsHer daughter Kerry's instagram page really gives the best clues to her current state of health. The last verifiable photo of her that can be found is of her with former Ukrainian first lady, Kateryna Yushenko which was taken during Labor Day weekend of 2022. There is a video on her page from April 11, 2023 which shows a large group of family members singing happy birthday to her, however, whoever was filming the video was very careful to omit her face which indicates to me that her health has gotten to a stage where the family does not wish for her to be seen. I am fairly certain there will be no more publicly released images of her. The Kennedys are still very much an appearance driven family, and are very restrictive about releasing images that depict its members in ill health. They did the same thing with Rose Kennedy following her debilitating stroke back in either '83 or '84. Rose's 100th birthday in 1990 was a major milestone that much of the Boston media covered, and was marked with numerous interviews with younger family members discussing her contribution to American society and family stability. Despite the major event, no photographs of her were released to the press, which was in stark contrast to her 90th birthday celebration in 1980 where she greeted well wishers and the press from the balcony of her house. To this date, the family has not released any photos of Rose Kennedy during the final decade of her life. The only known photographs of her came from journalists who managed to snap a few pics of Ted Kennedy wheeling her in her wheelchair outside her home sometime in the early 90s.

2 pointsShock G (AKA Humpty Hump) died on this day 3 years ago, aged 57. (just let me introduce himself) - Shock's real name was Gregory Jacobs. He initially wanted to become a drummer, but got a turntable once he got into hip hop. He would be mentored by his cousin, nicknamed DJ Stretch, and his friend in their group suggested the stage name "Shah-G". - Shock's first group was called "Master Blasters", and he would eventually found Digital Underground in 1987. The group's first major successful single was the 1989 song "Doowutchyalike", which became a cult hit in the rap community: (if you missed it, he's the one who said "just grab 'em in the biscuits") - 1990 saw the release of the group's signature song, "The Humpty Dance": The song peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100, but spent five weeks atop Billboard's Rap Chart. Humpty Hump was considered an alter ego; the character's backstory was that his name was 'Edward Ellington Humphrey III', and his big (like a pickle) nose was the result of it getting burned in a deep fryer while he was working as a fry cook. - Shock would be instrumental in the career of 2Pac, who joined Digital Underground in 1991. He would later act as the producer for some of his songs, such as "I Get Around" and "So Many Tears". - Shock died from an accidental fentanyl, meth and alcohol overdose.

1 pointI fully understand that, the reason I'm so confident in saying that is because there is no chance at all of the Tories winning in my constituency. My postal vote for the upcoming local elections arrived the other day and because local branches of the parties are quite different to the Westminster branches I felt confident voting on who I thought would make a better councillor/mayor, and I'll probably have a similar mindset going into the GE and vote for who will make a better local representative and not who I want in government, as at the end of the day that is what I'm actually voting for.
