5 pointsThe biggest crime of this thread is the description of Harris as "former prosecutor" in the sub-headline. She's the vice president, and a trailblazer at that. It doesn't even work as an insult because her tough stances on crime during that period give her a more moderate image that will be hard to attack.

4 pointsTour De France winner Tadej Pogacar is being compared to Eddy Merckx now, so I wanted to look up the latter. The surgery in April was the latest I could find, but it sounds like Merckx' health is not all that good. He lost a lot of weight, got a meter of intestines removed, suffered a fall in 2019 and has had a pacemaker since 2013. I ... think ... an entry on the DeathList could be justified.

3 pointsMy view is useful threads live on and crap threads tend to sink down to page 60, forgotten.

3 pointsIf I had been in control from the very beginning the only people who would have individual threads were people who have actually made the list

Done. I also note he seems to have a prediliction for upvoting things at the bottom and downvoting the top which seems to just drag all this out. Maybe I'm wrong, and it's not important enough to go back and collect data (plus I'm too damn lazy), just a hunch.

3 pointsThis is the latest fourth death on the above graph. Latest fifth death is day 242 (2022) which still ran the year out at 14 hits. Busy Autumn?

2 pointsWell, the discussion about these threads reminds me very much of the Sir Creep moaning about Dustin Diamond's thread. And Diamond's dead. Unlike the election of UK/US leaders, this Forum isn't a democracy. Over 9 years here and I'm still a newbie I guess. But I think there have been loads of threads historically created for all sorts of people (Michael Barrymore to name but one) where there is an interest in discussion besides death. Dividing and ruling is for real politics, not here imo. And I reckon the mods have a pretty good handle on deleting unnecessary threads these days.

2 pointsShapiro makes the most sense. The Democrats must win Pennsylvania to have any chance, and Shapiro is extremely popular there (59% approval rating) as Governor. Polling showed Trump well ahead this week in PA (something like 6-7 points), so getting Harris on the ticket plus adding the popular governor just might put it back in play. Cooper isn't enough to put NC in play imo. Mark Kelly would be my next choice. Relatively moderate senator from Arizona, married to former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who of course was shot in the head and survived. He can be a great messenger on gun issues, and I just like him and think he's reasonable. Buttigieg is my favorite candidate but yeah, that wouldn't be a smart decision.

Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean — Feels -6 07 Taylor Swift — Look What You Made Me Do I listened to 'Feels' earlier today and it has not aged as well as I thought, half of what Pharrell sings is unintelligible and the rap verse feel unnecessary and forced, I think the only reason I thought fondly of it is the catchy music.

2 pointsWell, needless to say, I disagree. Leaders have always had a place in the main Forum, as very possible assassination targets. The election has passed and most of the UK figures are now relegated and like the Gordon Brown thread, will fade into time. They are important enough to be noted when they go. And who knows when something might pop up? I think most on the site reserve their vitriol for the Political Ranting thread, only when they become unbearable or have a specific misstep do we have a record of their misdeeds on their own thread. Calling something up from the bin of the ranting thread is much more difficult. It's soon, it's raw, folk still seem to think that May, Johnson, Truss etc actually matter any more. Johnson's thread went fairly quiet after he was booted out and much the same will happen to these folk. And who knows when cancer, early onset dementia or a helicopter joyride accident may occur. Let these threads be a testament to their idiocy and something to read when they are dead. People won't believe these people were elected to the highest office. I do think Kamala's thread is a bit early, given she's not President yet. Or might not even be so. Anyhow, tuppenceworth.

2 pointsAmen. If it was up to me the Truss, Sunak and Starmer threads would be closed down. Trump, Biden and Johnson threads can stay cos the the first 2 are elderly and the latter is a fat twat.
-
2 pointsI agree with En Passant, I hate threads like these, in my opinion they should either be in extra curricular or be merged into the political rantings one because there are never updates about health or death in any of them. Older figures like Trump and Biden are fine but even those I think should be moved to extra-curricular and a second thread just to discuss their health should be created. The Liz Truss thread, for example, is one I haven't clicked on in ages because I don't care about what she's saying or done that is not related to her dying.
-
2 pointsNow that Biden has dropped out, do you think Carter will throw his hat in the ring. He's definitely got another 4 years in him.

1 pointSince Peter Tobin is gone and DL needs some scum other than Kissinger and Rolf Harris, here's a thread for the most notorious British paedophile and serial killer. Bring your hate here.

1 pointEstelle Getty died on this day 16 years ago, aged 84. - Getty's last name was actually 'Gettleman'. Her first experience with acting was when her father took her to see a vaudeville show, and from that day she desired to become an actress. - Getty would get minor roles in theatrical productions, before her breakout hit came in 1982 as Mrs. Beckoff in the Broadway version of Torch Song Trilogy. - Soon after, Getty would be cast as Sophia in The Golden Girls- she had to don makeup to make herself look much older; she was a year younger than co-stars Betty White and Bea Arthur (who portrayed Dorothy, her daughter), and Sophia was 80 years old in the show- Getty was only 63 when the show began in 1985. - Among Getty's film roles were as Evelyn in 1985's Mask, Estelle in the first Stuart Little movie (in 1999), and more notably as the titular mother Tutti in the critically-panned 1992 film Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot: Getty would win the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Supporting Actress in 1993 for this role. - Getty died 3 days before her 85th birthday due to Lewy body dementia. She was also known to have had a multitude of health issues (such as osteoporosis and possibly Parkinson's disease).
